, outdoor magazine Sports Afield announced that it will
cease publication this spring, falling victim to one of the worst
advertising recessions in years. The magazine will end its 115-year run
with its June 2002, issue.

If memory serves me correctly, a couple years back they tried to get out of the hunting/fishing thing and into the hiking/backpacking stuff. Obviously they never recovered from that error.

KYHunter, memory does serve you correct. That was a shame. One day I was getting a hunting and fishing mag and the next I was getting this "wanta be an outdoor yuppie" mag. They sent me a free year after they went back to hunting and fishing, but now I am glad I did not renew. If memory serves me correct, it was a change in ownership. <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>
