I know the song "Fred Bear" is kind of a hunters anthem, and that Brad Paisley's "I'm Gonna miss her" is a fisherman's dream song, but what are some other songs about hunting, fishing, or the outdoors? I know Kentucky Afield has had some down home singers that sing about the outdoors, country living, and the like. What is your favorite?
I'll be honest here. Nevermind.:D

They didn't need me at work today so I was bored. Oh well, that's how we dooze it in da hood.:D
Seriously, I have so songs that I listen to on the way to a hunt that we started listening to about 15 years ago... They have NOTHING to do with hunting, but is more of a tradition I guess.

the song ol red talks about coon huntin :"Get my lantern get my gun ol red will have em treed fore the night is done"
The one's that come to mind
I got the gun's by Roger Creager
Backwoods Boy by Josh Turner
A whole CD of songs called "Songs for the deer hunter" by a Vermont group called (I'm not kidding) Brown Trout and the Lunkers. You can find a CD through a music store in VT but nothing is available via download that I know of. I'm sure there's others and I'm working to put together a CD so I can mail it to all the boys to play on the trip to the farm in Oct for early season.

That is a great idea to get them pumped for the hunt.

You do your thing, I'll do mine..........Montgomery Gentry
Put me on a mountain, way back in the backwoods....
Put me by a lake, with a big'un...on the line...
Put me around a campfire...cookin' somethin' I just cleaned....
You do your thing...I'll do mine.

We're backwoods Dixie, flat woods pickin',
Shotgun wavin', long-neck drinkin',
Huntin' and a-fishin', workin' and a-wishin' for the weekend.
We say: "Yes Ma'am, No Ma'am, Sir, can a lend a hand?"
Take a stand for somethin' we believe in.
Love an' pray and do anythin' for a good friend.
We like camp fires burnin', buttermilk churnin',
Old folks, dirt roads windin' and a-turnin',
To a muddy creek; jumpin' from a tall tree into the deep end.
That's a country thang.
People who don't live it just might think we've gone insane.
But though the folks down home, we can stand right up and say:
It's a country thang.
We like moonlight sippin', late skinny-dippin'.
Flat rock skippin', catfish hittin'.
Sittin' on a creek-bank, sun's up but we ain't leavin'.
We like country twang and good southern rockin',
Fun in the sun on the bass boat dockin'.
Home made wine an' a mess of fish pie an' then a hot jam.
Got Gran'mas, gran'pas, newborn young 'uns;
Double wide homes an' double first cousins.
An old town square an' a county fair: it's a good plan.
It's a country thang.
People who don't live it just might think we've gone insane.
But though the folks down home, we can stand right up and say:
It's a country thang.
It's a country thang.
People who don't live it just might think we've gone insane.
But though the folks back home, we can stand right up and say:
It's a country thang.
It's a country thang.
It's a country thang.
That's right!
