I have a 6volt battery I use in my trail camera. I just put it on charge about a hour ago. I came back, and the thing was so hot I could barely hold it, and now it is swelled up like a ballon:eek:! I'm guessing this thing is ruined, but I don't know what went wrong. I used a 6volt charger, do you think the charger might be too big?

How old is the battery? How many charge cycles? They do eventually give up the ghost.
RUN!! RUN!! Get out of there, she's gonna blow!!:D

The battery has only had 4-5 charge cycles through it. It isn't even a year old. I had it in a feeder for one month, then it was in storage until about a month ago.
XI....Mine did the same thing! I don't know what causes that..Mine was on a 6 volt trickle charge and swelled out like an egg. I threw it away (naturally), but I have no idea what happened...I had no problem the previous 4 or 5 charges and it lasted about a year too. So, I feel your pain.

Where can I get another rechargable one? I bought it at walmart, but they only sell them during deer season when the feeders and trail cams are in season.

first i'd take it back to wal-mart and get my $ back, even without a receipt, they should give u a in store credit on one of their cards
12 Pointer gave me the idea to use Power Wheels 6v battery....They sell them year round and work great--I use them for my trail cam, not a feeder tho...of course it swelled like an egg  , but sounds like the battery "made for it" did the same thing, sooo...go for it....just clip off the plug on it and wire it up.

Are powerwheels batterys the same size?
That I don't know. I was having trouble with disposables and he gave me the idea to use one of those.....Go to the toy section at Wally World...get one out of the box and check it out....bet it will work.

The word feeder will soon be a bad word, and even though the KDFWR says my little corn piles may kill my turkeys,it cant seem to catch up to the BENELLI and KICKS .665 choke. Not to mention the deer herd will miss the thousands of pounds I bust my butt gettin out to them all year long!

i checked it a while ago, and it said full charge. Do you think it will be safe to use still?

Yes it is, but I don't think it was the batterys fault actually, it may have been the charger. But then again who knows.
