View Full Version : A REAL west KY wing night.

Just a thought here. Since there is a lack of good wing joints here in the REAL west KY, I figured if someone wanted to volunteer a large enough place, I could supply the wings. All we would need then is a cooler full of frosty longnecks and set a date. Any thoughts?

that would be the crappie blowout, and if it fails, there will be liquid refreshment to take the place of fishing....and if the wings come into play, thats all the better...
disclaimer, the crappie blowout has no affiliation with the bass blowout currently scheduled for at least 8 different lakes across the state....

If you are fishing for crappie, there was some medium water brush straight across from the ramp, just to the right of the high wall around the old creek bed. Anywhere in the bay baside Kenlake should have some as well, you'll just have to look. There are some decent stakebeds on the right as you move back into the bay. There are usually some smallmouth on the rip rap in front of the ampitheater if you venture out a little bit. I usually have luck with stripes and crappie around the bridge pilings as well. Just be careful pulling ECMbowhunter around in that float tube.
Hey Eric, if I fish that day, you are welcome to ride in my boat. You just have to clean all of the fish:eek: .

I've offered up the same( cooker & gas) if needed or we can use both of them. As of right now... I'm out of oil. Normally keep peanut oil for turkeys but could pick up one of those big containers of vegetable oil at Sams. Good for a cooking then just get rid of it...just have to watch and not get it overheated...cheaper too.
ecm will have to give us a update on how those wings need to be cooked....... he may need everybody to bring a microwave.:D

Just got back home from the REAL West Ky. Wing night.... great turnout...great company and some mighty fine wings. The 25 Louisville wing record was shattered by all attending and the remainder of the 60 pounds was still being consumed as I left ....along with several batches of fried taters and cold beverages. Ya'll Louisville boys must be lightweights to only choke down 25. We came....We ate.... We left piles of bones everywhere!!:D

Nutcase and I left a little after 10pm. It seemed like everyone was having a good time. Stan's sauce was awesome and ECMBowhunter's wings were something to brag about. I think NaturalElite had consumed about 5 pounds of wings and started in on Little Debbie (snack cakes that is) before we left. It was great to put a few faces with the names. I think the plans for another get together to open bow season is in the works. These guys know how to throw a wing night. I can't wait till bow season to do it again. Naw, it happens all the time. They have picked him up in Lexington several times. Seems he cuts the little ankle bracelet off will nail clippers and away he goes. He is easy to catch, they set out a plate of biscuits and gravy; all that is required then is to wait a few.;)

Yep...... I was keeping the females in the family happy today. We did'nt have a trailer .....just my old Dodge. The deal with the march flowers.....the Forrest Service is allowing anyone that wants to dig them up within the boundary of the new 4-lane can stop by the welcome center and get a permit. I stopped by yesterday to get one and figured I would run by some time next week(off work/ Spring Break at MSU:D ) and dig some up for my wife , mom & sister....the start date is March 19. I commented to the forrest service guy....thought it would be neat to dig some just for the fact my family came from there. He begins to tell me that since I was a decendant from LBL families..... I could have dug them anytime through the month of March and did'nt have to wait for the set dates to the general public.
He signed off on my permit to that effect....so....took my mom out this evening after church.....dug a pick-up load on top of the hill (East) of Fenton. My mom said it was the site of an old church. If anyones interested.... the permits are free and the "open" dates begin tommorrow through the end of month. The Forrest Service is asking for those digging..... after the completion of the road project...bring some back.
I've caught heck all day for being a LBL licensed dafadyl digger.

Take it from us local boys........ ya'll want to catch crappie on Ky. Lake.....ya'll need to cover more water. Take lots of spare fuel & get away from all the fishing pressure..... thats where the trophy crappie are at.:D
Keith..... thats just standard advice we give anyone visiting LBL. We just change it up a little when it comes to deer hunting / turkey hunting / fishing. Keeps us from burning a lot of gas.
