Yesterday was my one year anniversary for quitting dipping. I was a fifteen year veteran and I did it all day at work and at home. Quitting can be done.

Had my last craving in the duck blind (around a bunch of dippers) in December and have not had a craving since. I believe the craving goes away eventually.

Please do not read on if you do not want to hear my Two Cents...
Follow the program to the "T". Use all the great tools we have out there now. Do not try to be a tough man and quit cold turkey like your grandpa did. Use the tools our pharmacies have to offer. Stay away from Nicontine gum. I got addicted to it a few years back the first time I attempted quitting.

Nicotine patches step down therapy was what I had to do.

Reason why most start back after they have it licked (like hearing someone started back after 6 months or a year) is a simple thing. The person forgot how hard it was to quit and told themselves they will just quit on Monday or I will just do it while hunting etc. Wrong, it does not work like that. If you are truly an addict and you quit, you can never have one again.

No problemo...I have it licked...I just did not want to hijack your thread. I saw a few fellas on there trying to quit so I started a quitting thread...

Your right 100% ceohunter, it's an addiction and once you quit, you can't ever try it again, to easy to have a relaspe to doing it again.....

It can be done.

I had the ultimate motivation but it was still tough for several months.

I read that it is easier to quit a heroin habit than a snuff habit. I read that in a magazine article written by someone that had been through both.

I still have the occasional urge hit to take another, but I will not let myself give in.

I dipped for about 8 years and have been 'clean' for about 5 years. The first 2 weeks are the hardest, but with help from the Lord and the mindset that I could kick it, I did. And I am glad I did.
