Birds Roosted?

My son and I were out shed hunting yesterday afternoon. Basically an excuse to be outside. Here's the question. We walked back this meadow and and when we got to the back, we busted two roosted goblers. Only problem it was 3:30- 4:00. Is it normal for them to roost that early? Thanks

Roosting times are dictated by the weather sometimes, so it is pretty normal or they could have flown up a few minutes before you arrived to evade a predator.

I have walked under birds before late afternoon and had em flush before i knew they were there. It can be a eye opening experience in the dark:D
