yep, I've seen them 5 times in concert. Not really up on the newer stuff. Favorite album is Ride the Lightning followed closely by Master of Puppets, then the Black album, then Justice.

I love Metallica! I went to see them in Sparta, but James had hurt his back the night before in Georgia. So, we all got a free concert in Lexington at Rupp... I was dissappointed that Jason left the band...he's now in a band with Tommy Lee, "SuperNova", I think.

Went and saw them in Louisville at Freedom Hall in Feb. of 97 my wife took me for my B-Day. We had backstage passes after the concert so we got a few autographs but for the most part they were giving all their attention to the ladies for some reason, why would they do that I wonder.

Add me to the list! Been crunchin' with 'em since "Kill 'Em All". Back then, they were 4 of the ugliest guys in metal but, man; they sure could throw! Cliff Burton....Rest in Peace! I've, also, seen 'em 5 times (most recent was around 1995). Once in St. Louis, twice in Indy, and twice in Evansville. Went to see them a third time in E'ville but, James broke his arm, skateboarding behind the tour bus, a couple of hours before the show. Had to suffer through 2 1/2 hours of a wasted Ozzy and, hell, I like Ozzy.
Plus, if you needed another incentive, I've seen James in a duck/goose hunting video w/ Ted Nugent.

The Black album was the 1st tape I ever bought, I've been hooked ever since. I seen them and Godsmack back 2 or 3 yrs ago in Louisville Gardens.

I used to love them, but I think they pretty much suck now. IMO, the last good album they put out was the black album. They got too big and too commercialized and once that happened they started to produce crap music that is more like bad pop music then cutting edge metal... JMO.

Load was the first "crap" they produced, sold out for radio play, besides if you watch "some kinda monster" you will know why jason left...james hetfield is a little cry baby and almost drove Larrs Ulrich over the edge.James reminds me of that kid in every group of friends that ALWAYS ruins a good thing. But still think Ride the lightning is the greatest metal song of all time.

Yep, compared to the early stuff 'Load' was a load of crap.:D Too polished.

Awsome band!!!! I got to see them play at the Kentucky Speed Way for the Summer Sanitorium tour and then at Rupp area for a make up concert. Master of Puppets all the way. This is one group that will give you your moneys worth.

I used to love em but Bob Rock ruined it all for me. I read where they recently gave him the boot and Rick Rubin will be doing the next one so maybe there's still hope.

Saw them in Lex around 93. Awesome show. Nothing like that deep guitar sound to make you bang your head (even at 40).

Ditto.

All Lars did was open the floodgates for much better things than Napster. I understand their feelings, but it's not like they were hurting for $$$ or ever will be. Still an awesome band, and likely my favorite of all time, just have that bad taste in my mouth for a band who claimed they would never sell out.

The old metallica would have to be one of my favorite bands...I've got every single cd they have made....yes...even load and reload. Garage Inc. was the best thing they have done in the last few years. I always have some metallica in the cd player, and listen to a mix of them when I work out. Something about their music makes me want to break stuff:D

My favorite metal group right now, and has been for a few years is System of a Down. Now those guys can flat out rock and it's not like anything else out there..

Just for the record, Metallica was actually a "sell out" the day they signed their contract, in musician's terms.

Yep, I am also a Metallica fan. I saw them in Thompson Boling Arena on the Black tour in 93. I'd like to see them do some new "old-type" stuff and tour again. I actually like the new bass player. In 2006 I saw KORN twice, once in Reno, NV and once in Cincinnatti. Yes, I moshed in Reno because everybody else was. There were no reserved seats, and most people were just standing on the floor. I hate reserved seating at concerts. Everybody that likes metal should own KORN Greatest Hits volume 1.
