A female family member said she would vote for Hilary because it was time for a woman to be in charge of the country. When another family member prodded her as to what her thoughts were on Hilary's policies, she had no clue what any of her stances were. She ended up admitting, "I would vote for her just because she is a woman."
I support some kind of IQ test before you can vote, anyone else with me???

That is what concerns me IF she gets the Dem nod.......
Well, that and how many others would blindly do the same thing.....

Yeah, I know what you are saying. I honestly don't have a problem with people who will vote for Hilary as long as they know what she is about. Voting for her just because she is a woman is ignorant.

Voting for her just because she is a woman is ignorant.
There was also a thread here last week, which got a lot of support, about NOT voting for Obama simply because some perceived him to be a muslim, which was shown to be untrue. Ignorance can be found on BOTH sides of the aisle.

Seems everyone has the right to vote as they see fit.Are there some uniformed votes? Yes, and on both sides! Some see only the bad in a particular platform and are unwilling to see the WHOLE picture.
I really find no need in argueing politics on here anymore for the mere fact that the paltry 22% of Americans that approve of Bush, all seem to be on this site. The spin, the whining, the half truths, all seem to be coming from a group that have their eyes and minds closed to what all of mainstream America have already seen, and know.
BTW-Being WELL informed means learning the entire platform, not just picking out what you don't agree with. But, I am sure that is all that will be posted by most. Just my .02

True, but in the case of Obama, Hitlery..(etc.etc.etc.)......all I NEED to know is their past stand on guns......even IF they said they'd made a mistake, at this point I'd never believe them, all too often some politicians say what they need to , in order to get elected, then it's right back to "business as usuall"...
Anti-gun??? Don't expect many votes from the US citizens.....which IS the way I think it should be....
Anyone who is handed the statistics on how legal gun ownership AND concealed carry have caused crime rates to DROP and can't even understand a simple thing like that........NO way do I trust them on any complex issues....

I take it you believe your IQ is sufficiently high enough to allow you to vote?:D
This reminds me of when I was living in Chicago and went to vote at about 8:30 in the morning. An old, half-drunk crazy bag lady was standing in the voting line and working the crowd for change while she waited. She replied "the democrat" when somebody asked her whom she would be voting for, and all I could do was sit there and think to myself, this woman is going to cancel out my vote, and she doesn't even know who the candidates are. Ain't America beautiful? :)

Buckfever, That was pretty good. I would have had to of given her 3 dollars for a bottle of wine and hope she missed the election so she couldn't have cancelled my vote out.
I hear the 22% thrown up all the time by my SIL. I am curious what the approval rating would have been had we been struck 5 or 10 more times by terrorist since 9-11 on US ground. Do you think it would have been higher than 22% or lower. Anyone can be a monday morning QB. We will not be hit again until we get some panty waste in office that is too scared to fight. IMHO

What a surprise, yet ANOTHER democrat bashing thread:rolleyes:. And saying democrats are not intelligent, yet another nice touch. I love how republicans think that if you aren't a republican, you are aganist them on every issue, and you are dumb as pond scum. Your doing nothing but making yourselves look bad in my opinion.

Is that 22% approval rating on his whole effort in office? Or is it the approval rating on how he is conducting the war? See, both sides can take the same poll and twist it to their benefit. I don't agree with the way the war on terror is going at all. But that doesn't affect how I feel about the job he is doing in other areas.

I never intended this to be a "democrat bashing" thread or a thread where people whine about getting bashed. All I was saying was that I think it is ignorant to vote for a candidate just because she is a woman. Republican or democrat, voting for someone for that reason is completely ignorant. If she had said she would vote for Condi Rice for the same reason, I would say it was as equally ignorant.

Gee, it is a 22% OVERAL JOB approval rating. It encompasses everything from the domestic to foreign policy.
Means, 22% of Americans believe Bush is doing a good job, and 78% think he's nuts!:D
Actually I thought he was at 28%, but I am only right 78% of the time!:D

I do agree that it is silly for women, or anybody for that matter to vote for a canidate just because they are female. I just think it is silly for all these democratic slanders on these issues. Just because someone isn't a republican, does not mean that they are lesser people, or "dumb" or "low".

I think I may have misprinted. I believe th ojar is 28%, and support for the war is at 22%. I dunno, does it really matter anymore once ya fall under 30%?:D I think they should just quit taking those polls, it serves no real purpose. Each individual knows where he stands on all those issues anyway.

I don't know where some people keep getting the 22% since I cannot find it except on liberal web sites.
Here's a list of the major polls that is updated and lists the past polls.
Right now CBS has 28% while CNN has 34% on 1/19-21/07
I guess some people find a low and stick to it while at the same time they will find a high for Clinton and stick to that.;)

I wont vote for Hilary, not because she is a woman or a Democrat, but because she is a socialist and socialism doesnt work and I dont believe in it.She is also way too liberal for me.I voted for Bush twice, proudly, would I do so again, probably not. I will not continue to vote for the lesser of two evils. If the republicans dont get a good quality nominee or the democrats dont get someone who is not so liberal and far left, which I doubt will happen, then I will set the next one out. I know I shouldnt but I shouldnt have too either. When we have nothing to choose from then we have everything to lose. This is my opinion and mine only if you dont agree with me thats ok,I really dont care. I think I will vote for 630deere for president although he has a shady past and a rebelious nature.Come to think of it so do most politicians.

Obama was out when I read his stance on banning semi-automatic weapons. It's going to be another sad election, imo. Until the democrats stop nominating candidates that are SO liberal, they are handing the election away, imo. If obama or hillary get the democrat's nod, then they are handing the election to the republicans....yet again.
I usually stay out of the poilitical threads, but I'm exceptionally bored tonight. ;)

I really think the Democratic party needs to split. Liberal dems in one party and conservative dems in another. And yes the biggest part of the dem party are conservatives. It's just that the libs have all the control.

The sad part is a lot of people won't do their "Homework" on the people they vote for. They just vote, like you said, on who looks the best. And we all know the best looking don't always do the best job.

(I feel the need to prelude this with) I'm a registered Democrat that has voted non-partisan lately. Anyway, Why do they have polls anyway? and I'm not just talking about Bush's approval rating. I'm talking about how they sway voters in every election at every level in government. It seems most of the voters can't think for themselves and the polls sway them to vote for who they think is going to win. "Duh, well, everybody else likes them so I guess I like them too. I want to be a winner so I'm going to vote for them too." What possible contribution to the nation is a poll telling us who is leading the race? Why should anyone believe the poll results anyway? They can be skewed any way either party wants them to be. Does anybody here really care what the results of these polls are? Does anybody care what Bush's approval rating is? If you don't or do like him, what does it matter what everyone else thinks? I'm not about to change my opinion based on what 22% or 78% think in that situation. I guess I just don't understand. Just another BS media time filler and conversation topic I guess. They might actually have to report some real NEWS if they couldn't sit around griping and gloating about what Randall in Butte Montana or Alfred in Xenia OH thinks.

Personally, I would like to know how they gather the data for the public approval rating polls. Do they randomly call names in a phonebook? Or do they go to say the 25 largest cities and poll a set number of people from each? Is there really an accurate way to decide what percentage of the country approves of the president outside of polling EVERY person?

sign of the times., no reason to know anything about the candidate, because your heart feels it is right to vote for them.
