I have a question. On the Parkway after the split, going towards Prestonsburg there is a pretty good hole of water on the left. I remember at one time it was a pretty good place to pull over and take a break. Now the area is closed off; but I still see some boats on the water on occasion. Is this a public or a private lake and if public how does one go about getting to it?

according to my topo of ky. its public, and its called campton lake, as far as i can tell you get off at exit 43.id just drive into campton from there and ask around
Flint,
That is Campton's water supply. That's an old swimming hole of mine. I was by there today. You can still pull off there, they have the parking lot shut down. I think you can still fish the place. It seems to be one of those, don't ask, don't tell kinda places and nobody says anything. They used to put some trout in there many years ago. It is a small lake, but very deep. There is 100' water in it. I don't know that it's really worth fishing.
