I just recently purchased a New Thompson Encore 209-50. I have not had time to take it to the range yet because I am waiting on a scope for it to come in this week. Does anyone else shoot an Encore? What is the accuracy lick and what powder and grain bullet combination do you suggest. Currently I use the Powerbelt bullet and the Pyrodex pellet combo.[?][:)]

i have 2 encores and 2 209 50. ca. barrels bought the second cheap and it came with the barrel is only reason foir 2 muzzleloader barrels but i also have 209 tracker just a cheap muzzleloader and you cant get any better group with the encore than i do with the tracker. im a iron sight man now.. i use sabbots they are actually just a 45 caliber bullet im wanting to say 250 gr i would have to check i havent bouhght any sinse last year. but its the pelet bullet combo. id like to trade that 209 50 barrel for some kinda rifle barrel if ya know of anyone.

I got one after last season and love it so far. I am using the powerbelts with 100 gr of loose pyrodex. I still want to try the pellets too.
I also used 285 gr Knight sabots and they shot real well too.
Everyone that I've talked with said take your time and find the right load and bullet combo for this gun. It may be different for you than it will for me.

I just recently sold my Encore 209x50.I tried every combination of powder and bullet/sabot i could and it just wouldnt group as well as My ol Knight Wolverine.
The closest i came to a good group with the Encore was 2.75 in @50yards.It could have had a bad barrel which sometimes happens with those guns.I have a friend that shoots 100 gr pyrodex, and 250gr Barnes sabots with theres with good results.
Good luck, hope you find the right combination.
