Just wanted to share some of my favorite shots from this past year. I got my D50 in late Jan last year and have had a ton of fun. I took 12,000 photos with it then got my D80 in November and have shot 2,000 with it... I'm happy those are rechargeable batteries!
If I'd been shooting film I would have shot 583 rolls, so $4 a roll plus $6 to develop....... I just wouldn't have shot that much!

Thanks! I've always been interested in photography, took a photojournalism course in college and picked up a decent Nikon setup with lenses at a pawn shop near Fort Campbell back in the early 90's. I got my feel for framing and exposure, etc from that college course though.
One assignment in that class I'll never forget: The topic was something like "Play on Words", I was behind in a lot of homework as it was October, forgot to take any pics and hunted hard over the weekend, everything I had was wet from rain. As I was walking out of my dormroom, headed to this photj class, I got an idea for this difficult assignment..... My wet hunting boots were sitting on the heat register in the window, I simply stuck a Field and Stream magazine in one boot and titled it "Drying Out".
I was just glad I took some kind of shot to fulfill the assignment, surprisingly the instructor, who was an Editor for The Herald Leader, commented that this pic I took was the most "thought out" depiction for this assignment he'd ever had! LOL
I never really took photos of stuff just because I could, the digital revolution and the now affordable DSLRs has let me expand in this arena.
I've really only been taking nature photos for the last 11 months.

I'm sorry, I don't know anything about it. Is it a point and shoot or DSLR? Can you change lenses? If so, I'm sure it will do nearly everything mine will if not more...

It's a fixed lens camera it appears, but it does have a manual mode which should allow you more flexibility with pics.

I bought my wife a canon rebel SLR for Christmas. I was actually going to buy the D50 by Nikon, but they were sold out on Christmas eve......... Guess I shoulda been a little more prepared. They had a good deal on the canon though. I don't remember the exact model, but it's the 8.1mp. Any recomendations on an affordable telephoto lense atleast 300mm

How much time did you spend outdoors to capture these kind of pics? They are amazing!!! Were you hunting and take the camera along, or were they stictly 'buisness' outings?

Mostly hunting, I always have my camera, unless it's pouring rain.... The outdoors is much more entertaining than the tv.

So is the D80 worth the extra money over the D50 ? I've been looking at both but can't decide. I have a Nikon 8008s 35mm but want to go digital.
You ever sell any of your photos to magazines?

I just bought the D80 and so far it is awesome. I like it because it comes with a larger lens that has more range than most camera kits. It has a range from 18-135mm. It takes great pictures. I will post some soon.

All the good adjectives have been used to describe your pic's. But they are wonderful.Love those moose pic's. Makes me regret never taking a camera on hunts. I have seen many moose and elk on my hunts, but never had a camera along. I hope you were using a zoom lens on those big brutes!:D

Awesome pics!!! My wife has decided to replace her older digital with a Nikon D50 after seeing some of your photos. She was really impressed. hw

Rick, I shot the hummer and pileated with the sigma 70-300 APO DG. It's a 180 dollar lens.
Thanks H-Digger, I'd like to get some in the magazines...
