Ya reckon he made those comments and supported the bill well after he was in office to somehow honor the man that put his head in the path of the bullet to save his life? I have no idea of Reagan's gun control policy. Before my time. The quotes I posted are classic though, IMO. Ronald Reagan clear minded.

Reagan had a pretty spotty gun control record from early in his political career, despite being absolutely adored by the NRA (he was made an honorary life member in either the 80s or 90s). In the 60's he signed some sweeping gun control measures in California as Governor, supposedly the first state gun control law ever enacted there.

Then there was his support of the Brady Bill (given his connection to Jim Brady, this is probably the most understandable). But he also signed a machine gun ban and was a wholesale supporter of the Assault Weapons Ban. Two of the legislators with swing votes later said they only voted in favor of it due to the personal request of Reagan.

Not trying to trash anyone's hero. I admire his foreign policies and those are some great quotes to be sure.

Probably same as about everyone else on here: against it. I don't think anyone posting on a hunting forum would be too favorable to it. Right behind me on the wall are 9 rifles, and that is just in one room of the house. :D
