Look at Ky F&W website, look under list of license.
You'll find a Bird Dog Training Device permit for $10.00 listed.
Do you need permit for each whistle or collar?? Are you legally training your bird dogs??

Valley, I have to admit, I've been doing this for a long time and I don't have a clue what this fee is for. Can anyone enlighten me?

If I remember correctly back to the time when I was just a pup myself you were required to buy the permit if you were going to train your dog on a WMA and use an electronic collar. It may have been limited to fieldtrialer's using a WMA.
I cannot find any requirement in the current Statute or Regulations where they are now required. I doubt if anyone in the central office even remembers them.

Folks in Frankfort didn't know what it was about , either.
I see they removed it from the Ky F&W website list of available permits yesterday.

Strange, I wonder why it would just single out bird dogs, and not rabbit and coon hounds. I don't like it too much.
Valley, I've been looking on the web site and I can't find it. Can you help me out?

gsp: It was under liceneses, commerical licenes and/or permits. They have taken them off the site now, but it was on there yesterday.

Hey Darton,
That should be a feather in your cap!
The only place I've ever heard about that was on
KENTUCKYHUNTING.COM and within 48 hours it is gone!
I guess people DO listen.
