Some people think I'm crazy when I say that our next major war may very well be with China, and that it's going to happen sooner or later anyway. So, to those people... read THIS:

China's been pulling stunts like this for years. Remember several years ago that Chinese fighter pilot got too close to one of our C-130s and clipped it. The C-130 had to make an emergency landing in China and the Chinese held them captive claiming that they were illegally spying.

Yeah I wouldn't read too much into this either. I am sure that this kind of stuff happens a whole lot more than we know about it. And for another you have to look at the source. The washington times isn't exactly the most credible source there ever was. This article has left spin written all over it.
"The surprise encounter highlights China's continuing efforts to prepare for a future conflict with the U.S" I would like to see real data on this not just some reporters gut feeling. "The submarine encounter with the USS Kitty Hawk and its accompanying warships also is an embarrassment to the commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific" just more anit-military mumbo jumbo. I guess this is what journalism has become. People can twist and turn the facts any way they want to anymore so long as it serves their "agenda".

This kinda stuff happens alot.We had a Russian bear(recon plane) fly over our ship, it was being escorted by 2 USMC Harriers, one on each wing!:D In Australia a Russian sub came into the harbor too close and our ships left to run it off.

These encounters happen much more often than they get reported. It's just a lil' eyeballin' and muscle flexin'.

I bet it does.

Lord knows we would never do anything like that ourselves..

We did it with the USSR for 40 years and they also did get close to our ships without us finding them, that's the main reason we have those war games, to test our gear and people.

Normally during these "cold war games" between the USSR and US or anybody else for that mater a sub will not surface unless forced to. If the sub wanted to supprise the US fleet and let them know that it was there, there are much safer ways than surfacing since sometimes blowing tanks sounds like a missile blow before firing

trust me

I read a good book on U.S. sub activities during the cold war...we sailed right into their harbors and tapped their underwater cables, got so close to their subs and ships that we actually collided with them a number of times.

if there ever was a war it would go like this:
1) war officially declard
2) China immediatly surrenders
3) under sanctions we would flounder attempting to care for 1.3 billion Chinese

The US wants no part of a war with China and that's a fact. China is just as capable as wiping us off the map as we are them. It would basically be the end of the world.

See, that's what alot of people think, but that's not the case. China is hoarding U.S. currency like crazy. I forget the exact figures, but seems like a month or two ago the imbalance passed the 1 trillion stage. It's growing by the tens of millions every day. The Chinese government doesn't necessarily take care of its people with this money, they just hoard it. Why? If we ever went to war with them, or actually even if we didn't... AT WILL they could cash in and dump that money onto the market and flood our economy, which would basically cause the same exact financial damage as if we were in the middle of WWII. They are purposely keeping the value of their currency grossly undervalued. Any time they want to, they can turn the tables. Every time you buy something that was made in China you contribute to this.

Complicating the issue that I stated above... somebody mentioned the incident back in like 1998 where one of our spy planes got to close and was clipped... do you know what they were looking for? The Chinese have developed ways of attacking our financial network, our banking systems, stock market, etc., and it could be picked up wirelessly. It's all technology based, hacking oriented, not guns and stuff. We were that close because we were trying to figure out what the hell they were up to, we were trying to pick up those signals in hopes of finding a way to counter that technology. That was 8 years ago. I imagine they have some scary stuff going on over there. Just imagine if they dumped all the bonds that they own, they stop devaluing their money, then they attack our financial institutions in this manner. All hell would break loose, our money would not be worth anything near what it is now, but they would be extremely powerful.

Make no mistake, China has alot more money than us, they have alot of our own money, they have alot more people in the military, the government is mean and will sacrifice the good of the people as a whole for military power, etc. We actually already owe China alot of money but they're not forcing us to pay it off because of all the Chinese products we buy, especially home products, they want us to keep building homes and buying their light fixtures and stuff like that. It's not something to blow off. It's just a matter of time in my opinion.

With all the money this administration has borrowed from the Chinese they won't have to fight us, just call the note and bankrupt us.

We will be fighting a war with the Chinese before long, no doubt in my mind.

How has this administration "borrowing" money from China? Seems to me that the real culprit is the American public, not our govt. We are the ones buying the cheap goods at Wal-Mart and moving our companies outside the borders futher increasing the trade deficit.

As I understand it, it is good for other countries to buy our debt because it keeps the dollar strong and interest rates low. At the end of the day a strong dollar is more important than it's source.

The other administration (Clinton) allowed China to give money to the democrat party for use in the elections. That was stopped by Congress a few years later.

The United States has been "borrowing" money from China ever since we gave them favorite nation statistics, that allowed them to buy US securities which in effect is the same as the US govt "borrowing" money. Under 8 years of Clinton China bought more US securities than any other time in history, they are holding them today.

Here's a SERIOUS question about China and I'll give my answer first.

In the last 25 years how many times did you pick a "cheaper" Made in China product over a "higher priced" Made in America product to try to save some personal money???

I'm NOT talking about today where almost everything is made in China but over the past 25 years when we had much more choices.

I did pick up "cheaper" things to save money and it must have been in the thousands of times over the years. I'm sure everybody else has done the same. Now add it up.

The American companies were not only losing money but "market share" to the cheaper products, to stay in business they had to cut prices somewhere and still make a profit. The best place to cut those costs was China.
