Hunters for the Hungry.org auctioned a landowner either sex Elk permit on ebay...brought a little over $10,000.00...So if you have a $10,000.00 I would say very, very easy.

Otherwise your chance of being drawn will be in depend on how many tags are made available in the general "random" drawing. In 2006 there were 26,000+ applicants for 200 tags.

One other avenue for obtaining an Ky Elk permit is to submit a sealed bid for one on the permits auction by the Kentucky chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. The proceeds from these permits goes toward wildlife habitat improvement projects with in the state as well as land acquisition for public use.

Here is how it works: You write down what you will pay for the Elk Permit along with your name, address, and phone number, stick it in a sealed envelop and give it to the person running the auction. At the end of the auction the auctioneer opens all the sealed bids. The highest bid wins the "Sealed Bid Auction" and the Elk Permit upon payment of the bid.

Don't know what the Kentucky tag RMEF brought this year, but a few years ago, a similar donated tag for the Arkansas hunt brought $45,000. Two guys got into a bidding war and drove the price off the charts. A rich man's game.
