To legally fish in Ky, you must have a fishing license in your possession. Because trout take a trout permit, to KEEP trout, you must also have a trout permit. Some areas have a good population of trout and someone fishing for bluegill / other species may catch a trout. If they keep the trout, they need a trout permit. If they turn it loose, they need no permit. This is not always set in stone though. If someone is fishing with trout bait (corn, power bait, eggs ect)and have no trout permit, chances are they will be cited. Trout permit info is in the Fishing / Boating guide on page 10 under TROUT PERMIT. Good fishing!
