looking for opinions for the best factory load in a Winchester model 70 .270.
Most of my shots are between 70 and 130 yds but could be slightly further. Plan to have the gun dead on at 100yds

Remington Core Lokt 130 grain or Federal Vital shock.

I use the Hornady 140gr. spitzer in my model 700, get 1 1/4" groups at 300 yards. Bullet performance has been excellent on every deer I've taken with this load.

myself and duckman26 both shoot the 130 gr. winchester ballistic silvertips. we have taken several deer with them and couldnt be happier. they shoot great groups and we have shot deer from 30 yards to about 350 yards and plenty of killin power at both distances

For years I've been shooting Remington Core-Loct 150gr. Their long & round nosed and do a number on a deer. Their long range trajectory is not as good as the 130 but they pack a wallop.

Last year (1st year with the gun) I shot Federal 140gr. Assuming it is dead on with these 140's which should require the least adjustment 130 or 150?
Also, any more suggestions? I just got the Leverevolution 30/30 shells I ordered and am anxious to go to the range tomorrow and am planning on doing the .270 at the same time so tomorrow am is the decision point.
Thanks
creighton

Good choices on both guns. You won't be dissapointed with either one in my opinion. I hunt with a Remington custom 700 with Hornady 140gr. loads for the really long stuff, but have been seriously impressed with the 30/30 lever evoloution bullets. I'll use the Marlin for anything up to 200 yards without hesitation. Hunt with what feels best to you, and enjoy the season!

Federal's Fusion Ammo, 130Gr., this ammo was very accurate in my gun last year, grouped as well as my handloads, that was very surprising to me, ended up harvesting a nice 9pt, at 50yds. with this load, bullet did not exit and was not recovered, but did a lot of damage, hit the deer through the lungs.
