would it be possible to transplant some pine or cedar trees successfully? we live on 2 1/2 acres with only 2 trees on the whole place, two 60-80 ft red oaks in the back corner

My father and I have successfully transplanted around 100 or so cedars on our properties. Only a few died. If you transplant very small trees, do so in Feb. and March; they tend do do better. My dad gave me the idea to cover the roots andspread fresh saw dust around them. This makes the soil acidic and they grow faster. The saw dust keeps the weeds from competing with them also. They will be 5 feet or so high in just a few years. Good luck.

Marcus hit the nail on the head if the trees are small you need to keep "competition" from growing up around it. they get choked out easy. But once they get going watch out.

Make sure you plant and mark all plants/trees well...if you have other people mowing ( wife, ect. ) beware; strange things happen. I thought it was an extremly large blade of grass??????
