Yeah I did too, I had a 77 CJ-5 that had a 390 Ford out of a 67 Mustang... 320 horsepower and 420 ft/lbs or torque with about an 80" wheelbase! The transmission used on the 76 and 77's and possibly 78 and 79's were outsourced to Ford due to the introduction of V8's in the CJ's and Jeep not knowing how to make transmissions that strong, so the Ford engine bolted right up to the stock Jeep transmission with no adapters.

I've got a 79 CJ-7 with a 69 351 windsor that I built and put in it a few years back and never really drove it any. It hasnt been out of the garage for the last couple years. I've been meaning to start it and blow the dust out of the headers lately but havent found the time.

Didn't really mention it before but this is similarly built. It's a 78 CJ-7, it has a 350 Chevy in there. The front is a full width Dana 44 out of a J-10, and the rear is a full width trussed model 20 out of a Wagoneer with one piece Moser axles. Disc brakes all the way around, the cage is tied to the frame, Warn 8274 winch, custom fuel cell, fully hydraulic steering, three electric fans, the frame is stretched about 10", and those are 37" boggers.

I wish I had enough computer technology to post pics of my jeep,
I have a 89 wrangler with a 304/435/205 combo with 44's front and rear, with 35x14.50x15 Boggers open rear diff and a truetrac in the front diff. everyone has done the 350 swap, which is okay, if that's what you want, but I love the sound of and old 304 and didn't want alot of HP and I figured a 304 would fit my needs and so I wouldn't have to much carnage on the drivetrain, we have a mudbogg/ obstacle course/ rock crawl this upcoming weekend in Monticello, Ky.
we ride every weekend on one of my buddies places, this past friday night one of my buddies split his 465/205 combo on a hill, he runs a 94 S10 with 4.3/465/205 with D60 front with a 14 bolt rear on 42 inch TSL's.

I seriously considered a 360 but wanted lower HP from my lead foot and carnage from it as well, I hate to back off a hill , it sounds like you have a pretty good setup, I would love to have a Scrambler but they are far and few between atleast in decent shape anyways, but I would like to have one anyway, I have a buddy that "stole" one for $1000 this past summer and it isn't rusted down either, why can't I have that kind of luck???:D

That is a hoss cat. Bet it is fun.
I will try digging up some of my pixs and scan. I had a 78 CJ-5, 360.
Was running Warn lockouts with 33" BF Goodrich Mud Terrains. I loved that thing, sold it when Lil GSP was born. I had to become a responsible (so they say) type person.
Well that BS is about over.:D Might get another one.
