Does any of you out there hunt deer or coyote with a 30 30 marlin 336.

This is the only modern firearm rifle I have to hunt with and want to learn to hunt both.

Its a fine deer rifle. With the new hornady leverrevolution ammo its a 200 yard gun no problems.

It'll do everything you need. Use it with confidence.

I love the Marlin 30/30! And, like he said, the new leverevoloution ammo is great. I posted a target 100 yard target pic not too long ago.
I've got a safe full of guns, just something about a lever action that feels right!

wife killed her first deer with it last year....and never picked the gun up before that one shot.

Hopefully, my son will get his first deer this year with the same rifle.

The Marlin 336 is far suppieror to the Win. 94. 30-30 is a decent deer caliber, probably the number one choice in the US each year. So, yearh, it'll work just fine. The 336 is easy to scope, so it should extend your range out to about 200 or so.

I have one & like it fine. Great gun out to 150 yds.

JerryO your rifle will do fine for coyote within its range limitations. Plus it will help you tune up for deer season. If you reload or know someone who does you might want to try the 125 grain ballistic tip over a near max load. I have had good luck with this bullet. Just remember that it makes your rifle a 2 shooter because you must only load a round in the chamber and one in the magazine due to the hard pointed nose piece on the bullet.
Good hunting

Seldom has a rifle been designed that throws up to the shoulder of so many different sized shooters, has a managable recoil and hits what it shoots at like the Marlin 336. Enjoy!

Many years ago I came across a man hunting coyotes with a Marlin 30-30. He was hunting in the California desert and was in business selling the pelts. He used a Sabot bullet which turned it into a poor man's varment rifle.
