Its been 20+ years since I hunted with a .243. Any recommendations for a deer load? It needs to be commercially available, I don't reload these days. It'll be shot through a short (NEF single shot) barrel by a 9 year old (don't know if they can load a .243 hot enough to cause trouble but we won't need it, shot distances, etc. will be limited by Dad!)'

Thanks

I like the 100 gr. Rem Core-loks. My son has take two deer with them and they seem to group really well with our NEF. Recoil in the NEF with that load seems to be handled by the younguns too. Good luck with what ever you decide to use.

Thanks, I appreciate it. We've got to get in a good bit of practice, all my kids have shot to date are .22s. The quicker I settle on a load the better.

Take care and good luck this season.

you might have better luck in the firearms section, every gun in different so its hard to say what your gun likes, from what i have noticed the (fusion) ammo has shot good through everything i owned and also the same goes for my dad,and fatherinlaw..
and the performance is outstanding...
