Depends on if you are shooting a 1 or 2 cam bow. 1 cam bows are best served by a stabilizer that "pivots up and down" due to the fact that the 1 cam bows "fire" from the bottom. 2 cam bows are best stabilized and dampened by a plunger type i.e. hydraulic stabilizer as they "fire" straight out due to both cams rotating FORWARD at once.
The Doinker style stabilizers are popular as are the Vibracheck gel filled stabilers with 1 cam bows as they allow the weighted part of the stabilizer to flex up and down easily.
Stabilizers have 2 purposes. 1 ,to balance the bow. 2, to absorb shock and vibration. I hate to see someone spend their hard earned money on a bow and all the godies only to nearly ignore buying a good stabilizer. Stabilizers are a very important part of a bow.
