Savage makes great firearms for the money. They are sometimes a bit on the bulky or on the heavy side, but they are usually VERY accurate rifles. The accu-trigger is really nice. Most Savage rifles have plain stocks, but they are probably half the price of a Browning.
I have a Savage Target model rifle in .223 which is pre-accu trigger. I had a trigger job done on the rifle and it still isn't as good as the accu-trigger. I also had a Savage Rifle in 300 Win mag. Shot very well, but I thought it was a bit bulky so I went to the Remington 700.
Dick's Sporting goods typically runs some pretty good sales on the Savage guns.

I have a Savage 30-06 (model 110 I think???) and am more than happy with it. The trigger is perfect and it is deadly accurate. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I haven't found it to be bulky, but every gun fits everyone differently. I think if you give one a try, you will really be satisfied.

I also had an old 110 in 30-06 at one time and that thing was a fantastic gun. Nothing fancy but they just flat out shoot good. Can't go wrong with a Savage.

doesnt' euro usually signify wood all the way to the end of the barrell.
I love my savage 110 -06 just kicks like a mule. Trigger is real nice but gunsmith had adjusted it down pretty good.

From the Savage Arms Co. website:
The Classic Series
With the successful launch of the American Classic model in 2005, Savage is expanding the line in 2006 to include the 14/114 Classic Model, featuring the new feeding system with hinged floorplate, a high luster blued barrel, the revolutionary AccuTrigger and a satin lacquer American Walnut stock with Monte Carlo comb and cheekpiece. The Euro Classic, offering the new feeding system with detachable box magazine, will include all the standard features of this classic series (AccuTrigger, bluing, Amercian Walnut stock, etc.), but the stock will have an oil finish and open sights. It will also feature the Monte Carlo comb and cheekpiece.

WE have a Savage (pre accu trigger) .243 that our youngest hunts with (he just turned 12 this month fwiw), It is a VERY accurate rifle, I've often said, and do believe IF I ever buy myself another rifle it will likely be the Savage with accutrigger.....hard to get a better rifle for twice the money imho...
I've never seen one that wouldn't shoot better than MOA "out of the box".....even with factory loads, with my handloads this rifle is "scary" accurate......a great buy for the $ imho

I have Savage model 11 (preaccutigger) and it shoots under 1" at 100yds. I also just bought a Stevens 200 in a .223 which is same gun as Savage 110 preaccutrigger and its shoots great. I don't think you will be disappointed.
