Hey man, it was really good to meet up with you today. Seems like you hit the nail on the head today as far as what the fish wanted. Sorry I was deterred with my cousin, it's his first trip down and I wanted him to have a good time. Probably going back out tomorrow morning and see if they're still biting. I'll let you know when they do the city park.

Guys...we'll have to do it again sometime when the water is not as muddy...suprised we even got a hit as muddy as the water was!
Look forward to flinging some sticks and lead at some fur and feathers with you guys.
Keep in touch,
Alan (45)

From the looks of the weather, it won't be any time soon on the fishing. Cave Run was putting out quite a bit today. Be lucky to keep your line in the water, much less catch a trout. The birds seem to be doing alright, just a tad wet though. Be careful out there with all this rain and flooding!

Guys....from the looks of things, our honey hole probably got washed out! What do you think.

We all took a trip down there yesterday. The water was backed way up. But not really flowing. The dam was almost all the way shut down. The water was over the spillway opening.
By the way I bought a Mossberg yesterday, can't wait to get after some turkeys with it. Its a good shootin gun.

Do you think our hole would be fishable sunday?

I hope it is, I am going to on my own then. I won't have this good school food to look out for me then. Plan on staying out at cave run next week, or atleast for a couple of days. If it is fishable, which I doubt I am going to be that lucky, I plan on being there. We went out to the spill way yesterday and it looked like the river was flowing backwards. But hopefully this wont effect our fish. Oxmos and Xcutter went out to the spillway today, I haven't heard from them yet so I don't know what the conditions are. Talk to you later

I think the Cold front shut the fish down, or theres too much food in the water now since the rain. Hopefully things will be back to normal.

Went down to try and fish our hole again today....the water was way too high to fish...I'd say at least another 3 or 4 days before you could fish it you guys been seeing any feathers?
oxmos
03-25-2002, 09:49 AM
Can't say I've been seeing many feathers. On Spring break now and I've been catching back up on sleep these past few days. Gonna get out and start scouting around the farm and see what's here though.

still no good fishing guys...I believe we're going to have to wait until they let out a lot of the water out of the lake before it gets back to normal...did you guys know that there's walleyes in there too? I didn't know this until someone told me. I'd like to go down with about 2 dozen chubbs about 4 or 5 inches long, fish it and see what we would catch. I'd said there's some good cats in there too!
Take care!

I can't wait until the weather starts getting warmer, I love to go cat fishing. I just like to go out and BS with my friends and catch a couple of fish. Maybe we will get a couple of good warm days and we will get out there and try to catch a few.

Thanks for the invite 45 I need a good catfishing spot closer to school those trips back home get costly. I love them channel cats!!!
We'll have to set a day aside and go. What do you catch them on?
Xcutter
I don't know if you fellars have a boat to catfish out of, if so, go up Licking river about a 1/2 mile past Beaver creek. This will be the first big bend in the river. I caught my best catfish ever from that spot. A 76 pound flathead. There used to be a store called Sportsmans Paradise on 1274 up at the head of Cave Run. They used to have a picture of me and that fish. (I was the one without the whiskers)

76lbs how do you get somethin like that in the boat
Better yet, make it a 12 foot john boat. You grap one end and have someone else grab the other.

Hey 45, Did I hear you say something about a place in Grayson that holds Bow shoots or something. I'm pretty sure I've heard it somewhere before.

Guys...
There's an archery range in Grayson but when I went there it was closed. I think they were to open around April 1st. Go like you are going towards Grayson lake and it's on your right just before you get to the lake. I can't remember the name of it. There's also Northeast KY Fish and Game Club in Ashland which I am a member of. They have a 3D range and an indoor range. I haven't shot any there yet.
Have you guys been fishing any. Can't wait till this weather breaks. This weather sux. Going to try to go this weekend. Would like to fish the honey but I'd say it's slim to none of wading by then.
You guys take care!

Alan

45,
Sounds like you guys get out a lot. How far is cave run from the Fort Knox area? I would like to shoot a few times at that range. I would really like to meet up with you guys and catch some of them catfish. I'll let you put a blind fold over my eyes I just like fishing for them big ones. But I tell you I'm a old Zebco 33 man so I dont know if they can handle one's like you and GSP are talking about. But hey you guys have a good one.

Guys the range in Grayson is Trophy Hunters Archery Club, great bunch of guys and gals there to shoot with. They have a few come up to our club in Prestonsburg and shoot and we go down there several times through the year. They usually shoot on Sundays like our club does.

We went to the City park and fished today and only caught one. It was just slow. Talked to some guys that were down there and they fished all morning. Between two of them they had 14. We used corn Worms minnows and spinners. I think they headed upstream.
We'll keep trying.
