Anybody miss any big games because they had to go to a wedding?

I'm too busy deer hunting or fishing to watch many ball games on the weekends, espically now that the weekends are the only time I get to hunt. Now, I don't miss a UK basketball game unless I HAVE to. But those games usually don't tget in the way of me hunting.

When my wife and I started planning our wedding a few years back, we took the football schedule into consideration and made sure we did not schedule it on a home game date. They ended up placing Murray on the open date that we had planned our wedding but luckily it was a night game. We missed that one and the only other games I have missed have been due to gun season..:D

I have a cure for the fall wedding invites........I was asked to go to a wedding by both victoms(groom & bride) I told them both I would come but........that I go NOWHERE without my English Setter Molly! I did however tell them that I would put a pink ribbon on her. The next day they said the preacher would'nt allow a dog in the church.I believe I was grouse hunting on the day of that wedding!:D

Back in the stone ages when I got married, UK had an open date on Oct 1 and the bow season opened on Oct 1. I made half of my friends happy by getting married on open date and half angry by having the wedding on opening day. The priest who performed the ceremony and my brother went bowhunting until 10:00 because the wedding wasn't until 2.

Congrats, Philpot. It's been 23 years for me and I'm pretty pleased by it. Kids are now college age and our investment in their futures is now paying off. Raising kids well is the only truly great, important thing that most people do.

Congrats Philpot, but what were you thinking?

Getting married during hunting season of any sort is taboo.

My little girl's, my niece's or my own birthday always hit on early M/L.. which is bad enough. I can skip my own party but would be stoned to death for missing one of the others. I've grown to look forward to everybody's birthday hitting during the week. :D

Intentionally planning an event at a time when it's going to potentially interfere with a hunting season...... bad karma dude.

My fiancée and I are getting married Sept 8,2007,
She wanted it to be later, but I told her that it had to be earlier in the month b/c of deer season. She originally wanted to get married in march, but I said no way not during the NCAA tourney. I also do not watch UK tourney games anywhere but home, I was forced to watch the double OT game against Mich. ST. at the soon to be in laws to celebrate Easter, I told her God wanted me to be at home for UK tourney games.

but what were you thinking?

At that time of the year I'm not really doing any hunting, and I'll be back in plenty of time for the opener of gun:D Thats what I was thinking

I was married on October 18th 2003. I figured that getting married would be the biggest thing I ever did, so I wanted it to be during my favorite time of year and what I think to be the most beautiful day. I did bow hunt 4 days later though ;) Honeymoon wasn't until November.

Don't plan on taking up bowhunting, your eventual kids youth hunting and hope that they don't move early M/L season. :D

That's why I got married in the middle of May... no hunting seasons at all going on. ;)

At least you guys who get married have one thing going for you; If you get her pregnant then, her due date isn't during the season. NOTHING will kill the season like a baby due during November. Whatever yall do, don't get her pregnant between Jan-April.

Exactly.

I had it all planned when we were trying but somebody with more control than myself had it planned differently.

Having a 3 week old infant put a wrinkle in my usual gun season deer camp expedition that year.

My wife still gets her undies in a bunch when she gets to thinking about how I reacted when she told me we were expecting that February... I had been in MO for 5 days (including Valentine's day) on snow goose hunts, had come down with the flu and only had 6 total hours of sleep in the previous two days when I arrived home and was told the news. I felt like I was knocking on death's door and had collapsed on the bed when she came in and told me......she still hasn't forgiven me for not turning cartwheels.

I didn't see any "can't miss" games that day pooty. UK vs LSU, UL vs Cincy. Best game of the day is Fla vs Auburn. Nobody should be too mad at ya. Congratulations BTW.

As a longtime UofL football season ticket holder the first thing I check each year is the possible conflict of home game vs. Deer gun season opening. Most years it works out. This year we play @Rutgers on Thursday 11/9 so everything is good. Since there are "only" six home games each year it does not cause that much of a problem with bowhunting. I am still "old school" on bowhunting anyway, I usually never go until my bowhunting opener, October 1st.

While I will work around football and deer hunting...... I will skip any wedding, showers, baptisims, or birthday parties during Football & Deer hunting seasons. I have been married for 26 years so the arrangment has worked out for everyone.

Watched an episode of "King of Queens" once where they didn't want to go to this wedding.. They found some friends that was going and gave them the gift to take and also asked them to eat some food at the table they where supposed to sit... Of course everything back fires on sit coms.. I just use my Dish Network's DVR and only listen to CD's on the road so I won't hear any scores on the radio... You know that there will be some jerk there to talk about the game or blurt out the score though..

One of my friends is getting married Sept 9th this year and I am in the wedding.
Back in Sept 15th 2001 I went to his farm on opening weekend of bow season and killed a 150" P&Y while he was in a wedding! So maybe I should go huntin!;)

Maybe there is no wedding? You'll show up to an empty church w/ a note on the door "GONE HUNTING!":D
