Tickets are on sale now for the South Central Kentucky QDMA banquet to be held August 19,2006 at the Franklin-Simpson Community Park Ag Building. The doors open at 5:00 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30. Tickets are $40.00/single or $55.00/couple.(contact me for sponsor and youth prices)The ticket price includes one membership to QDMA. Please help support this good cause. We as hunters will all benefit from good Quality Deer Management and this is the best association out there to help us to learn the proper methods for deer heard management and growth. If you want to grow trophy deer where you hunt this is the place to start.

We will be having ribeye steaks and pork along with all the fixins to eat.
There will be silent auction, live auction (nice guns too, not cheap junk).
Deer scoring lessons, experts on deer heard management, best food plots and locations.
Entertainment was brought up tonight at our meeting---maybe live music-----I think it is still up in the air but I will find out and post as soon as I know. Or maybe Steve or one of the others can jump in here and enlighten us on some of the things I'm sure that I'm leaving out.
There will be plenty going on and will be good clean fun for all.
It is a cause that we as hunters should support and be thankful for the people that are working hard to improve our deer heards. For QDM to work I think it takes an effort from all of us.
Come on out and have some fun! I'll get back with more info ASAP.:)

Too bad. I was hoping it was closer to London. That would be close to a 10 hour round trip for me. Any chance to have it in Hazard next year? :(

tbailey, We are starting a chapter in the Lake Cumberland area. We haven't set a banquet date yet but will be having a meeting sometime in August. We now have a QDMA Reginoal Director living in Ky. I expect big things & major growth in the near future for QDMA.

I'm really excited about this chapter in the south central Ky. area!
All of us true hunters in the Logan, Butler,Warren,Allen,Simpson county area as well as other surrounding counties should get behind this .
I hope to hear from more of you soon. If anyone has any more questions, please ask me. I'll do the best I can to answer them and if I can't I will try to get the answers for you from someone who can.
I am all for other chapters being formed and wish them all the best but we hope to make this a chapter for this part of the state as too many small chapters face many challenges as does any org. when they start in any given area.People often travel more distance than we are talking here to be at these functions because they, like I, believe in it as an organization
that is a worthwhile one.Ky. should be the Polk Co. South and can be our secret. Let people go to Il. to hunt and leave our heard management to us. Hell, we can grow more big deer right here in Ky. than most any place in the country. We do have to want to do it!

I'm not sure some hunters want ANY trophy management. Check this thread out. I started it, but stopped reading once the personal attacks began.

First off,QDMA is not some government agency. That being said, they can't mandate by law what is killed. I think that our youth and our seniors should be able to kill any deer. Your first deer is a trophy even if it is a doe. Our seniors have earned it. I have an 81 year old relative who loves to hunt still but obviously can't climb a tree anymore and I'm not about to tell him he can' kill whatever he chooses to. I believe tha rest of us should be good stewards and let that young buck walk. He will most likely grow into a better deer over time and become a real shooter. As for the meat hunter, I say , if the first deer you see is a young buck then let him be the first one that walked by you that day and wait and kill a doe. Ifyou are hunting in an area where you think that might be the only deer you see all season then do things to improve the habitat.(i.e.,food plots)
Remember that hunting is not just about the kill or even how big a rack you can put on the wall . I love to hunt and just being out in the woods or field is a great experience. Now the result of letting that young one live and putting out that nice food plot will be more and bigger deer for you and our children. Like I said , YOU HAVE TO WANT IT! I feel that alot of people don't want mandates on a deer size and I can understand that. I hope that is why so many of the people in that poll said if its brown its down.Maybe they just don't want the law to be changed.

I want to say thank you again to everyone who attended or helped out with the South Central Ky. QDMA chapter banquet. It turned out to be a successful banquet. I am told that to have 100 people and to break even on money at the first banquet is a successful one and we we had about 125-130 people and the chapter actually made just a little.
This is very encouraging to me and tells me that there is good support in the area for QDMA.
Thank you all again, and to those of you that could not be there,I hope you get involved. It was a really good time and everyone I spoke with,I think had a good time.
This is a non profit org. and will be putting this money back into the community,in this thing that we love-------deer hunting!:)
