Was out this morning checking our garden and spotted a hen with five young. Must have been a second or third attempt for her nesting. The little ones were of new hatched chicken size. Kinda small for this time of year. Seeing several larger ones in the area also so it looks to be a good hatch in my neighborhood.
Also spotted three dandy bucks together headed for the state park boundry. All three were well out past thier ears and show promise for the season.

Won't be long we'll be back to the days of guys posting about the need to whack a few hens. Amazing how quick thing change?

I was out just a few days ago scouting for deer season and jumped 4 hens and no less than 25 poults. All were able to fly up in the trees but weren't much bigger than chickens.
Funny thing is I hunted on the farm a little during turkey season and saw 1 hen all season.
Also saw some NICE deer.

I saw a hen yesterday with around 4 or 5 young and they were the size of baby ckicks, when they went in the grass following mom all you could see was the grass moving so I would think they were late.
