There was an arrowhead thread started in the test forum a while back. I started to post a new pic there, but thought more people might see it here.
Here are a couple of recent finds. The "hammerstone" is made to fit right in your hand. If I had seen it in a creekbed I'd dismissed it as nothing more than a creek rock, but it came off the top of Black Mountain, far away from any creek or stream. I found it about 30 yards from where I found the point beside it in the pic.

Here are a couple more pics that I posted earlier.

My grandpa owned a farm in Lee County Virginia on Camp Creek near Wallins Ridge that had a huge hump in one field that they grew Tobacco on top of,for at least 100 years family collected arrowheads and occasionally an axehead out of that place after plowing or after a good rain. I expect it may have been a burial mound or at least a regular camp site to find so many all those years.
They find them along the creeks here in Pendleton county,Ky but I've yet to find the first on my place,I do find pieces of flintrock though. The bottoms along the Licking river are good places to look. I've saw hundreds come out of the cornfields next to Thornhill Dragstrip in Kenton county. I found an ancient steel bladed knife once in a creek that had rotten rawhide strips bound around the handle,a guy at a museum in Devou Park said it dated to the Long hunters time,my older brother swiped it and sold it though.Come to think of it I still owe him one for that.
Sorry about the length, but I have a pair of Homespun pants that belonged to Vincent Hobbs (a great great grandfather from way back) who is credited with killing Chief Benje the half breed Cherokee that raided the settlements regular.

3 Toes,
Some of them came from Letcher Co., some from Harlan Co. I love finding them, though I don't have any compared to another person I know, whom shall remain nameless for obvious reasons (scrupulous, theiving characters). I don't think he'd want me to tell it out too much. But I'll try to post them below.
KYFanatic,
That's neat that you got a peice of your family history like that. Especially one that goes back to someone with a story like that. One of my ancestors name was "Panther" Jim Maggard. He was supposedly quite a hunter of bear and "Panthers" back in the early settlement days. I have read quite a bit of written history on him, but it sure would be nice to actually own something from him.

That is one fine collection. I used to enjoy hunting them as a kid but have gotten away from it. It was getting harder to gain permission to the properties. I would never get rid of those if I were you. Pass them on to your kids or donate them to a museum in honor of someone you really care about. Maybe even a local school.
Great pics & thanks for sharing!!!
