Just started working on a new hunting shack. Its gonna be a 16 by 32 foot room. Here is what we have so far. Any suggestions about building this thing? I might add new pics as this thing comes along.

Looks good so far. Are you adding a wood burning stove? Porch? What type of roofing are you gonna use?

I would go to the local rail/trucking yard and buy one of those metal shipping containers. They come in lengths from 20 ft up to 48 ft if I'm not mistaken ? Put in some windows and an added on outside entrance for nasty weather. Wire it, plumbing in one corner, and bam your done. With the price of lumber right now I think you can buy one of those containers for about $2500. They have big skids on the bottom to help keep it off the ground. Set that box right behind what you have already built and man what a castle !

Just my 2 cts worth. :D

Thanks!

We have talked about putting in a wood burning stove and thats got my vote. The Shack will have a tin roof. We plan to put a pretty big porch/deck on it. Its probably gonna be a long slow process. We have just been working on it a little bit at a time. Want to come help??? :D

That's exactly what I'd do if I were building one. You don't want my help, believe me.:D

It was in the 90s out there! Cold beer was required!

There are several suggestion I would like to make but they vary depending on funds etc.....

I have a 10X14 that I built for myself that I heat with a little buddy heater during the coldest times of the year........12V electric and she hunts real fine!

Looks good, I was told that if you place windows arcoss from each other on all sides it will help with the ventlation.

Would someone post some pictures of my cabin in Larue County if I send them to ya? No running water or electric. It sets on 3,000 acres, the only way to get to it is by four wheeler.

We didn't intend on doing this, but did it after the fact upstairs. especially during turkey season, it would be unbearable to sleep without that crossbreeze.

Any progress DoeMaster. Any new pics.

After we got the floor down the project came to a stand still for a few months. We managed to get this additional work done while working between a couple of hunts. The roof is next. We are taking baby steps! :D

Dont forget your wind bracing on the corners depending on what you are using for sheathing. Looks good so far. Are you going to put a gambrel roof on or a mansard?
