Just wondering who shoots what. I get the feeling that most that post here are compound shooters. Don't get me wrong, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, I own a Reflex Xpress thats only about 3 years old and my wife and son both use them. I just don't feel like using it anymore so I switched to my Bear recurve. It's just alot more fun and challenging. I don't get a thrill out of shooting deer with a compound anymore, it's too easy. I haven't shot one with my recurve yet but that's only because I haven't had the chance. I will and when I do it will be my best harvest yet!

Kenny, I have a 1969 Bear super kodiak and a very old Indian stick bow that I love to hunt with but I spend most of the time with my Bowtech Extreme Solo.

I shoot a Blackfeather longbow made by Richard Hollaway in Alabama. I took a nice 7pt with a 16" spread on opening day. It was my first year hunting with a traditional bow. He walked in at 7 or 8 yards and I couldn't pass up a shot that close. I wouldn't say a compound is too easy, but hunting traditional is a bigger challenge. Hunting with traditional bows is very addictive.

I only shoot compound. There is just something about getting that close to a deer. I guess thats why I enjoy archery so much.

68" NTN Hickory Longbow, made it myself, killed two does with it last year. I just feel like I have more confidence shooting traditional in hunting situations than with a compound, and since I don't shoot any 3-D I am not shooting my compound anymore.

I love my BoB Lee recurve but have had to shoot a compound the last year because of a shoulder and elbow injury. I'm shotn a Parker at the moment but my pride is starting to hurt more than the shoulder. My BOB Lee is 69lbs at 28" and I think I'll talk to Mr. Lee or Rob about making me a set of 60lb limbs and get the arch back in my archery again! (I LOVE MY BOW)

I shot a compound for 25 years but now shoot only longbows. Nothing like them when you get used to them.

Hey spurrs, e mail me if you want to try out a few longbows sometime. I have a friend in Irvine that has a bunch and we get together when we can and shoot. You are welcome to come and shoot any we have. They are pure fun.

I'm shooting a Crooked Stic Reverse Riser LB 54# @ 28" that I had made earlier this year. Magnus broadheads and cedar arrows. Arrow weighs about 605 grs. Nothing against compounds or those that shoot them, I just like the trad challenge a bit more.

I have owned just about all of em' at one time or another but currently shoot an XI summit. Can't shoot a stick bow to save my life. I gave it every chance and still can't hit the broad side of a barn. I wish I could shoot trad, I have a lot of respect for those guys.

Got into this stuff in 69 with a Ben Pearson cougar recurve, still have it and acquired another since then. BUT, I also have a Darton, a High Country, a Martin, and a Pearson compounds. Love to shoot all. Just have to choose which one is a chore. Started out shooting instictive and now shoot sights and release. I try to shoot about three 3-D shoots a month to keep in practice. Now just waiting for season to open the 1st of OCT and baiting for bear the 1st of SEP. Started guiding for bear last year and having a blast. We took 4 and have 8 clients already for this year. Had 2 blackies within 12 steps this past Sat, what a rush again.

Been shooting a Mathews FeatherMax for 5 years now. Very reliable bow.
One of these days I'll probably go to a stickbow. I really do believe they offer some advantages in hunting situations, for those who can shoot them well.

I grew up shooting a traditional long bow and a recurve. I now hunt and shoot with a mathews. I guess, once I have more time to practice, I would like to get a recurve. I really enjoyed my dad teaching me how to use it as a kid.
