This was my buddies first bird ever taken on the 3rd week of the season when we took a day off of school and got him this bird. I am putting it up so late because it took me a while to find a site that would aloow such a large file to upload. By watching the video you can see how exciting it was. I could have easily taken another one of the birds shown but i wouldn't have wanted it no other way but then to have your first bird on film.

It may be a little blury, but that is sure the best way to keep a memory like that. Thanks for sharing with us.

pretty nice!! love the excitement, that's what it is all about!!

What decoys did you have out? I could catch a glimpse of one in the lower left corner. Those turkeys stepped up on that rock, and they weren't coming any closer.

I had them new real sharp looking Flambeau's. I had a feeder hen, alert hen, and then a jake. The jake does look really aggressive and earlier in the season i had 4 jakes that wouldnt even get past the treeline i nthe field to come in. But the main reason why those birds hung up was because that 7-8 foot ditch was right there. They didnt want to cross, exspesially since they were all 2 yr olds and didnt want to get their hineys wooped. He did end up shooting the dominant bird of the 3 though. If you look close you can see one of the other gobblers has and LONG LONG beard but it aint nothing but a pencil beard. I think he shot the right bird.

Awesome hunt. Congratulations to both of you. Ever figure out what spooked them?

I told him not to shoulder his gun when we saw them 300-400 yards away so he wouldnt get tired and wore out. 15 minutes later the birds hung up on that ditch. And i figured that they would cross because earlier that morning we saw 3 birds cross at the same place. So i told him that when they got out of site when they crossed the ditch he could shoulder his gun then. So he just had to make one quick movement that they got glimpse of. That bird never stood a chance!
