Hey guys, .45 Caliber has a real good string going on everyones choice of broadhead and I didn't want to take away from it. I heard what sounded like some real good comments on the ROCKET STEELHEAD points in the discussion. I have only been bowhunting for a couple of years and have used the 100gr. HAMMER SSTs with good results. The only problem I have had is something I'm sure is common with all fixed blade broadheads. They require a lot of adjustment to get them to fly the way you want them. I liked the way the ROCKETS seemed to work on deer I saw taken with them this last season and am planning on switching to the 100 gr. version this coming season. I am using a CHAMPION, YUKON in 28" draw and 60lbs. pull and really love shooting it.

My question is, are the ROCKETS really that accurate and do any of you test fire them before season to test that accuracy? I don't want to bust a blade, but I'm a fanatic about my arrows going where I want them to. All the people I have talked to say they basically just screw them on and take to the woods. None of them have had any problems with them. I guess you could say, I would like to have a more diverse oppinion on the subject.

I appreciate the help.

Thanks,

My personal opinion on the rockets basically go along with all the other opinions that you have herd about them. Several years ago, X-treme gave me a couple of rocket miniblaster to use. I believe they was a couple that he had already used and just sharpened them up for me. But I asked him if I needed to adjust my sights and he simple said no. All you have to do is screw them on and check them through out the hunting season to make sure they stay sharp. All the deer that I have harvested with my bow, have all been harvested using the rocket 75gr miniblasters. They have my approval on them and I know that Xcutter uses the same thing. And I am pretty sure that his opinion will be in favor of the Rockets. But to really get some get information you want ask Xtreme. He would be the one to give you the advice you want. Give them a try, I hope you like them as much as I do.

With these things all we do is make sure your bow can shoot a feild tip good, if so you are good to go. They fly just like field tips and are deadly.

If you shoot the 100 gr. Rocket Steelheads behind a few arrows with 100 gr. field tips , expect some tore up arrows if you do your part. Just ask yogi!!...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Thanks guys, that was the same kind of comments I was hearing from the other folks I had spoken to. I was amazed at some of the pictures this guy had taken after he conducted some tests at his home. These things really did a great shredding job on the test target he had used. The penetration was excellent as well!

X-treme, you know I have already quizzed the Great Yogi on the subject. He is a strong believer in them as well as the STEEL FORCE points. It was just hard for me to believe they could be that accurate without test firing them. How could I ever doubt the Great Yogi! If they do fly like field points it will definately add to my confidence level. Just don't want to get too cocky!

X-treme is it my imagination or is that smiley face's grin getting bigger all the time? May be the fact that Turkey Season is right around the corner?

Thanks Again,

Safe Hunting!

Does the weight really matter that much? I fire 100gr. field tips and broadheads on my carbon shafts. Do you use the 75 gr. because they are faster? Maybe I would be better off using a lighter point?
Can you give me the pros and cons. Haven't been in the bowhunting realm all that long. Always looking to learn more.

Thanks,

Maybe it was last year, but I remember reading about the Rockets awesome penitration and it seems like everyone was talking about them now. I have been using them for 5 years and I no longer worry about checking them against the field points and I've never lost a deer I've shot with them. Tough, accurate, deadly--nuff said!

I shoot the 75 grain mini-blaster. It is slightly larger than the steelhead and weighs less of coarse. I use them becaus 75 grain is just what i happen to shoot target with also. As far as the Mini-blaster 75 goes they are fast, accurate and there will be no complaints on my end about the penetration.

Ranger Dave, the reason the little steel heads penetrate so well is because of a very short and sharpened STEEL furrow. This equates to vastly reduced flex in the business end of the arrow.

Also with the short , stout furrow comes less drag and near same FOC balance as a field point. Add to the fact that some short , and VERY stout Solingen Ger. steel blades and you have a very devastating, super penetrating little head that will fly like a field point and penetrate with any head on the market.

I am friends with Greg Johnson and Eric Meredith of Rocket inc. and I can tell you that they intended for this head to be a mechanical for everyone , no matter what the pound pull etc. and it surprised even their wildest imaginations.

The Great Yogi knows what they are about. He only recommends the other brand of head because that is what "BOO BOO" likes. Unfortunately BOO-BOO and his first cousin Rob. S. are still in the stone age. Those of us that know better are in the Rocket AGE!!!!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I will be down there this Sat. to shoot. I never miss a chance to be in the presence and gain knowlege from the "Great Yogi". Although Yogi only lives 3 miles from me I just dont get the religious experience that I get when I'm at the "Forks of the Jellystone"<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

You steered me in the right direction when I bought my bow there X-treme. Thanks; I believe it saved a lot of headaches for adjustments. Just change heads and go hunting..Great...Field tip to ROCKETS 75 grs!!..........Only had one problem and that was changing blades when I pounded one into the dirt...the screws are pretty small and seemed to come out with a little bit of difficulty..otherwise; just tits gooooood.....ez

Thanks X-treme. I was wondering when you were going to weigh back into the conversation. I believe you have all sold me on the Rockets.
I am always looking for something that will make me a more consistant and ethical hunter. I want whatever is out there that will insure a clean and quick kill. Of course, I have to do my part and practice.
If you speak with Greg and Eric, tell them I appreciate their contribution to the cause!

Thanks Again,
