Are there any cheap alternatives to the "IPod"? I would like to have one, but I can't see myself spending that kind of money for one. I woulod like to be able to listen to the pod cast of the bob and tom show, and the Dave ramsey show, and I know you can listen to them from your PC, but I would like to be able to take an IPod or something cheaper to work with me. Do you all know of any ting cheaper than the IPod?
Best buy has all kinds of them. If it were me I'd just spend the extra money for an IPod. Everything is setup for Ipod's these days. I don't know for sure, but I seriously doubt you can get all the same features that an Ipod has with an off brand. The thing is is that the off brands are not much ceaper than an Ipod. IMHO, an Ipod is some of the best money you can spend if you like music, ect...

The connectability of an IPOD is why you should get it. Look at Best Buy, you can get alarm clocks that connect to the IPOD, radios, small stereos, big stereos ect.... Nothing else compares.

agreed...Ipod with Itunes plus your own cd's is an unbeatable user friendly combonation
I've got 2 of them. I've got the U2 edition and it was pretty steep. I also have and Ipod mini that was only like $250 or so but I think they quit making that one and replaced it with the Nano and you can get those for around 199-250.

How do they work? Do you take songs straight off your pc and load them onto the ipod? Are there different folders on the ipod? As you can tell, I know NOTHING about ipods:o

Also, where do you get music videos form? Can you play them on the ipod screen?

Methinks when you get one you should load it with every song in the song title thread.
If you are just wanting to store/replay tunes, I would get a RCA LYRA.
$50 - $60 bucks and you can hold more with a card than an IPOD.

I have a mini and love it for the gym. I want a 60GB, but will wait till they get something bigger (have about 75gb of mp3's already). Buddy of mine has the nano nice, but fragile, other one has the Video, (very nice).
I wanted something other than an IPod, but I agree, they are throttling the competition. My old company even came out with their own and I still bought an IPod.
