I am fortunate to be purchasing a new honda foreman atv. Can anyone give me their thoughts about purchasing the 4 year extended warrantee. I don't think the $500.00 is necessary. I have been told by many Honda owners that they are very reliable. Advice on any other dealer add ons that would be worth my while would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Erik:)

I would not get the extended warranty on the Honda. I would buy a 2500 lb winch though and front and rear bumpers.

It would depend on how hard your going to ride the thing. If you expect to put it through the torture test, buy the warranty. It won't take long to add up the $500 when you start buying parts.

warranty because the piece on the headlight is $500 and they sometimes go out 3-5 years.

He's right, you'll need them when pushing/pulling your buddy's PooPolaris out of mudholes.

LMAO !@!!

I would buy the $69 winch deal with the ROLLER fairlead and I would also buy the frt and rear bumper kits, skid plates, and boot plates. CV boots can get expensive if you run and tear them up.

As for the warranty it would depend on how much you will use it and what kind of treatment you will give it. Those extended warranties are worded VERY specific so be careful of what you are buying. ;)

I have a 4 wheel rancher. I bought the Honda because I have 6 buddies that bought the same bike. The newest bike is a 2005 and the oldest is a 1998. None of these bikes have needed anything other that tune ups. I didn't get the extended warranty and neither did any of my buddies.

I bought a new Foreman a couple years ago and did not get the warrantee because I knew I would not ride it hard. I just use mine for deer hunting and nothing else. But like others have said if you plan to ride it hard and long then the warrantee is worth it all.

as long as you dont "ride it like you stole it" you'll be fine. just follow the proper break-in procedures and maintanance schedule, and use all the correct fluids.

I plan to use the ATV 95% of the time on my hunting lease. I am going to drop into Harlin County, KY for a little trail riding on my way home from Tennessee.

I have already ordered the boot plates. I will add the skid plate, front and rear bumbers, and pass on the warrantee. I look forward to not hauling 50 lb bags of corn on my shoulders this summer.

Thanks again for the replies. Erik

Forget about the extended warranty, but do take the advice of getting a winch. I bought my 2500 lb. Warn off ebay for $265 shipped a few years ago. Also, spend the money and get a good pair of boot guards. On most Honda bikes, you can replace the boot itself on one side, but the other side requires the purchase of the entire axle. I bought the Oxlite brand thru my local dealer. Well, worth the money.

Well I have two old timers that are Hondas,a BIG RED and a 250 SX and they get tune ups,and serviced every spring, and look pretty good for 21 year old trikes,I would not get the warranties, because they are very reliable,I would put them up to any 4 wheeler, that are the same size and caliber, but thats my opinion, LOL :D :D
