I shot a full box of Remington .30-06 Accelerators this weekend through my Ruger M-77, and I'm having trouble grouping them with any accuracy at 100 yards. Anyone else shooting/grouping them satisfactorily? If so, what size grouping at 100 yards? Is 200 yard accuracy out of the question?

They just won't group very well.

Larry, thanks for the response. How do you define "very well"? I can live with 2" grouping at 100 yards. However, last weekend I couldn't group any better than 5" at that range.

Don't know anyone that ever got a 2" group. Not saying it isn't possible but 5" is a fairly typical kind of group. With the right twist to your rifling the 110 grainers should get you where you want. A slower hit with a 110 beats the heck out of a super fast miss!

Does Remington or Winchester produce a 110 grain factory load?.......or is that going to require reloading? Have you (or know of anyone) shooting less than 110 grains on a .30-06? I've been told that if you shoot less than 125 grains on the .30-06, the bullet will tend to "tumble" (becoming inaccurate) due to the diameter/length ratio not being adequate. Any comments/opinions are welcome.

Looked briefly and didn't see a current loading for the 110's. Several 125's which should group OK in your Ruger. Bullet stability is a function of overall bullet length to twist rate of the rifle barrell. As a generalization long bullets are unstable if the twist rate is too high. Assuming your targets to be coyotes or groundhogs the 125's will be OK till you want long range accuracy [over 300]. I like guns so a new 6mm class rifle would be my choice. If you're using your standard deer rifle it would be a good idea to use the best load that works in your Ruger. Thinking every varmint shot is practice for deer season.[:)]
