I am thinking of putting one on my browning 10 gauge.I hate the tri viz sights that came with it.Front sight blots out turkeys head at 30 yards.I am not sure wich to go with .I like the burris and millett but not sure about 1x magnification on the burris.Any pros and cons would be appreciated. Thanks

I've had Lasik and it won't work for me....just a red blur. I prefer a scope and appreciate the magnification. Plus, if you might want to shoot at one while your moving around, the red dot has to be on all the time....hard on batteries.

I've got a Simmons Pro-Diamond scope on my turkey gun and really like it..

I just get that gobbler's head in the diamond and he is meat in the pan.

I have scopes on both of my crossbows that I use for turkey hunting too.

The Excalibur Exomag has a 2 power scope on it.

My TenPoint QX4 has a 3X Pro-Elite scope on it with a choice of green or red dots on the crosshairs or just plain crosshairs.

I "scope" everything... ;)

I use a Bushnell Trophy, think the world of it. Would hate to go in the woods without it. Be sure if you buy one that it is waterproof. You can mount them with certain mounts that you can see your regular bead. My is not fixed that way but I keep extra batteries with me in case battery runs down.

You don't need magnification for turkey hunting, IMO. The red dot allows you to keep both eyes open and track them easily. I've missed when trying to use a magnified scope because of looking for them in the field. The red dot just seems more natural to me for close range shooting. I've never missed with it from on the ground or in a stand.

I use the Browning 10 GA NWTF also. Nice solid gun. I was thinking of getting the red dot sight also but the mount sellection is holding me back. I don't like the saddle type mounts that replace trigger pins. I prefer to find the mount that can be used with the scope taps in the top of the receiver. Do you have any ideas for mounts? As for the red do a 10 ga has recoil so you need to have a shock resistant scope/red dot sight. Bushnell makes one that has both red and green dots. This would be great for sun and early morning and the scop is under $80.

I love my red dot! As mentioned you can keep both eyes open and sometimes when your in an awkward position and can't get down on your gun properly all you need to see is the dot. It doesn't have to be centered. I don't jump shoot turkeys so I don't need to have it turned on when I'm moving from one set up to another. Battery life is not a problem, one lasts me through nearly a month of hunting. My red dot is mounted on the rib of the barrel scout style. This allows me to look through and around the scope and with no magnification there's no problem with range estimation. I don't have to worry about the scope staying zeroed because it is mounted directly to the barrel and not the receiver. I use mounts for a Marlin lever gun that are flat on the bottom and drill and tap my rib. Tru-Glow makes a mount that clamps on the rib. In eight years I've only had to rezero mine once. For the mature hunter who wears glasses it's the only way to go. Tom

Thanks everybody for your help.I am going to give it a try.Are you mounting them with the saddle type mount or drilling and tapping or scout style with the clamp on rib type base..Thanks everyone.
