NKYBOWHUNTER

Yesterday I got my first turkey with bow. I hadn't hunted since opening day and today is our last day of season here in KY. I have had my stuff riding around in my truck all season but got turned off after opening day events (another story). So I took my kids to school at 0930 and talk myself into going hunting instead of Bass Pro. Thought the wife would appreciate that more also. Anyways, I got to the woods were I wanted to set up. Made a single call and got a response from a gobbler. I set my decoys up, got back on the edge of the field and cleared a few shooting lanes. I got situated and made another single call. He hammered again right away. I sat for another 5 minutes and called a single time again. He answered again at about 70 yards out. I just sat and wait. I seen him through the brush coming up the field. He never went into strut at all he just walk in on the decoys and stood. Now the way the field dropped off at the edge I was able to stay hidden and standing up to make my shot. But he never got into my thought out shooting lane. He stood in one spot for 5 minutes it seemed but looked like he was getting ready to check out. If I squated down I had about a 20" diameter cycle to fit a arrow through. I did that and let her go. It hit him extremely hard. He tried to get up and fly, but nothing doing. I was extemely pumped. Bird weigh in at 22lbs, 10" beard, and 1 1/4 spurs. I shot him at 20 yards. The whole setup took maybe 20 minutes. Thanks for listening to my tale.
