This year is the first in fifteen years that I have not tagged out .I am STILL birdless.Unless things change it is not looking good.Anybody else having a bad season or have I been cursed?

I've only called 1 bird to the gun this year and barely worked just 1 more. I've heard plenty, but they just haven't wanted to play. Lots of time in the woods, poor results. I have however heard a lot of birds gobbling on the roost, so at least I wasn't going and not hearing anything.

I have also had a very crappy season. I have one bird respond to calling and come in to about 20 yards only to have me knock a few feathers out of him. 2 days later him and a buddy came backin to about 20 yards, I missed # 2 and the guy I was hunting with shot my missed bird from 2 days before. I had managed to take off about 1/4 of the front of his beard and a few feathers from around the base of his beard.
I finally got one on the 27th, but when I skinned him out about 1/2 the meat in his breast was black, I guess from being spurred by other birds. He was also missing quite a few of his tail feathers and only weighed 18 pounds. He did have an 11" beard and 1" spurs. I don't know if he lost weight RUTTING or if the infection from fighting was killing him slowly. I do know that I won't eat that meat because I don't want to take a chance of getting sick from it.
Every bird I have called to since the first one I missed has went away from the calling. And I have only had a couple days when alot of gobbling was going on after flydown. I have also had coyotes mess me up twice and yesterday had a beagle ruin my day.

I cant say ive had a crappy season, I have only got to hunt two days.
Last saturday only heard 1 bird that was a mile away.
Sunday me and my buddy both took a bird. Both were nice 2 y/o birds.
Going in the morning to take my little cousin, hope we can get one into range.
He has never had the chance to take one, maybe tommorow.
good luck all.

I have had a pretty bad season too. I didn't get to hunt much because I took a new job and couldn't get many days off. I haven't scored on a bird yet either. See my post in the "general hunting" forum about me having to call the cops and you will see what I have had to deal with:mad:

this has been my toughest season in 14 years, i killed 1 on the 3rd day and locked myself into hunting a single bird that i named ghost because i have had him into gun range 4 times and have heard him gobble at least 500 times but never could see him due to the lay of the land or him staying behind the thick stuff. i tried every trick i know on this bird but he won every time. he would not come to aggresive calling he would actully shut up, and stay where he was at. but he would come into scratching leaves and soft calls.
3 days ago i finaly got to see him and he is by far the biggest bird i have ever seen. im no proffesinal by any meens but have 14 years of turkey hunting experince and have killed birds every year that i have hunted them and most of my years i have tagged out..( but not this year) i sit here typing this on the last day of the season at 8:41 am and im not going to be able to hunt today so the ghost wins this year i can only hope that he makes it through another year so we can play again next year..
even though i lost i have had a great time and the ghost will haunt me for along time...

This morning was the worst for me. Had to watch 4 toms walk away and couldn't get a shot. They were close, but, just not close enough. Wouldn't take a chance on possibly wounding or crippling one. Had 2 hens to my left, that were cluckin a little, which I thought would bring at least one of them in. Nothin.Tried callin, still the same thing. It was like they just didn't have no interest in the calls, or the real thing. Always got next year :D

I didn't get to hunt much but this was the worse year since I've started....even though I didn't get a bird the the first year I went I still saw and heard tons more than this year.

Same for me. The population is way down on the farm I hunt but I told myself I wasn't going to Peabody no matter what. I've had my fill of the inconsiderate slobs that hunt there. There may be some good guys that hunt it but they are out numbered 10 to 1 by jerks. First time I've been skunked in a long time but I'll be out again next year.
