As per thread title, and if you can provide links for pics or online stores, that'd be great too :D

Some short description on the light/lantern and its usefulness will be nice as well. Thanks!

Cliff and I use Coleman lanterns. Try looking at coleman's website.

I agree, I still have 2 or 3 of the old Coleman fuel type, but never use them after buying the propane version.

Thanks for the replies guys... looks like the Coleman is the no. choice here. Will consider it for my next outdoor trip (and see if it's worth shipping one all the way here) :)

I don't do a whole lot of camping, but the old Coleman lantern and two burner stove have never failed to do what I want them to. When my pap bought them new in 86 he went ahead and bought spare generators and stuff. They're still in the package stored in a tool chest, 20 years later.

The propane units are surely easier to use, but the disposable cylinders bother me when I see them floating in the river. With the white gas units, I know when they are getting low and they burn a good long while with no pumping needed.

I have several Coleman propane models that are the best. I bought a wal mart brand a couple of years ago and it seems to be just what I bought, a cheap version of a Coleman. My choice is Coleman and a back up battery powered lantern if needed.

I have always used the coleman propane lamps. Lots of light & easy to use. I always dispose of the used cylinders properly, as well as any other camp trash. I hate litter!

I love my old colmen white gas bomb. Instal the striker on them and they are a cinch to operate. Pump them up good at the begining and they can go all night. Best part is they are easy to work on. Replacement parts aren't that hard to find either

You know that nut on top of a coleman lantern? How many folks have burned that pattern into their thumbs more than once? Raise your hand!

we use both propane and coleman fuel.propane is best for getting ready to hunt (lots more light).coleman fuel lanterns are good for sitting around at night in camp(really cheap to use).

I have 2 rechargable coleman battery powerd lanterns. They don't put out near the light, but I can charge them up at the house, or while driving to my campsite, and they last a long time. I don't have to fool with fuel, mantles, or any of that stuff. I like mine alot. Plus, I usually bulid a fire when I camp, so the lanterns go off when the fire gets lit.

I have a coleman lantern as well, two actually, but I rarely use them, they were gifts. They are big and bulky and they attract bugs. When it's dark, I really only like the light of a fire. I mean, eat before it gets dark and put your stuff up and it's really not a problem, I just like to watch the fire, and a light source ruins it. When I need to get around, like when I drink too much beer and have to wizz, I carry a mini-mag light in my pocket. That's all you need.

Actually I do have a recommendation, although I don't own one, but keep meaning to buy one... LED lights. Those things are tiny, they last forever, they light up what you need lit up just fine, and they don't blind you temporarily after you turn them off, they don't mess up your night vision much at all. I've been camping with more serious folks who have these things and they are very nice. They can last for something like 20 hours on one battery, and it's tiny, much easier than lugging around an ultra-bright huge lantern.
