I have not seen a lot of turkeys using the fields. Are there just that many acorns still around? I knew we had a great crop last year, but figured that there wouldn't be enough left now to keep them in the woods.

During te youth season their was still alot of acorns under the leaves. Also a great deal of turkey sign in the woods.

During the youth season we had turkeys all over in the fields. Even the week before youth season we had turkeys all over in the fields. Since then we have people tell us where we hunted they're lucky to see a turkey in the open fields..ANYWHERE!!! Do they go to the woods this time of year for nesting or what?? How can a group of 100-150 turkeys just up and vanish?? They had next to no pressure during youth season..just me and my son that's it. It has me puzzled..

I have not been seeing them in fields either. And I have not heard much gobbling this year.

My wife and I spent last weekend in Louisville. On the way back home on 71 I never saw 1 turkey. I was very suprised. I did spot about 10 deer.

I watched 5 fly down and strut with 9 hens wednesday morning and they never gobbled once, they were in a cornfield and had roosted right on top of it.
