Jake. Soon as big boy thinks a youngster is moving in on his girls he'd come in. Atleast in theory.........................

here's my take: SOMETIMES it don't matter WHAT type of deke u got, the gobbler don't like it so he ain't playin. this scenario can happen with either jake OR hen. i think that its way more likely a gobbler sees a jake and gets so mad he just can't stand it so he decides to make the death march :) . gobblers are so used to the hens coming to them that sometimes they see hen dekes and figure the hen will come his way or the deal is off. just my $.02

Neither!

I seldom use decoys unless Im were it is really open and birds can see a long way or Im just settin up blind!
I have more success without them than with!

I'v been on many a hunts with RutNBuck . Sometimes they work & sometimes they dont. Got big gobbler on tape that came in 3 time to about 45yrs. come to find out after he left he had about 6-8 hens just over the hill.
Just depends on the set up & if I have time to set them out. If I do set them out it is 1 hen 2 jakes.

If i could only have 1, it would be a hen. But if i could have 2, it would be a hen with a jake.

Eight out of ten times I won't use decoys. However if I was using one and only one I would use a Jake. If it is a very large open area I will use decoys.

I would have to say I agree with a couple of the others on the jake decoy...an ole tom isn't going to stand for that youngster to be anywhere around the girls...but, on the other hand if that tom has had his butt kicked by some jakes he might think there could be a couple over the hill or behind a tree feeding he can't see and get the heck out of there. You should ammend your question to what "2" decoys would you take..:)

The biggest one, they are more comfortable to sit on!;)

We should have made this into a poll! I would use a hen if I only had one to take.

Usually don't use decoys, but if I could only use 1 it would be a hen..
