Turk,

If I pass through Enid I'll be BAD lost! Waureka is right down on the Red River, pretty much in the area that had all the fires.

But I will be thinking about Dwain--that was one nice guy with the addiction as bad as I've ever seen.

Nothing like a Rio all puffed up in the western morning sun....

I have a friend in Pittsburg, near McAlester. He killed a nice one yesterday. Said they are gobbling and working fields good. For the moment anyways. Good luck.

Just got back last night, after a great hunt. Five of us took ten gobblers, only one of which was a two year old. The largest had a 12" beard and 1 and 9/16th spurs. We figured we called a total of 26 up within gun range.

Two evenings ago we watched a wildfire in the distance, way on the horizon. When we got to the motel, the fire was only 500 yards away, and fortunately the wind was with us. Still, we could feel the heat and smell the smoke. One of the most awesome things I've seen.

Rios are awesome birds to hunt, because there's basically nothing to hang them up. If you can hear them gobble, they'll come in, and pretty quickly, too.
