I work down in Paris, TN and TN's season has been in since last Saturday.

I was on my way home tonight and looked over in a field that I see turkey and deer in from time to time and see a truck parked on the lane that cuts the middle of the field.. somebody turkey hunting.

I then look about 60 yards to the north of the truck in the field and there he is... puffed up bigger than life trying to impress 3 hens....:D I just about had a wreck I was laughing so hard. That's my kind of luck. The guy is probably hunting his rump off on the back side of the farm and there's a big ol' gobbler strutting nearly in shotgun range of his truck!

That was priceless... wish I had my camera with me today. :D

Similar thing happend to me two years ago. After a steady rain all night I drove to a farm house to deer hunt. I arrived well before dark and parked right beside the house. I never saw a deer. When I came out there were two sets of tracks between my truck and the house. I wasn't 15 feet from the house. By the way there were people living there with dogs!

I saw a similar situation here in ky. last year.

I saw birds, in smaller groups, in several fields on the way home from hunting Tennessee this morning.

last year an older fellow was deer hunting on one of the farms near the house. meat hunting, looking for a fat doe. he doesn't get around very well, and had a ground blind in a fence row bout 75 yards down the hill from where he parked in the edge of my neighbor's yard. I came home from work just before dark one evening to see his truck parked in the usual spot, with 7 does and yearlings peacefully munching grass in the yard around it. I held back so as not to get in his way if he happened to look behind him and saw em round his truck but he never did. came out and said they must not be moving tonight, hadn't seen a thing.

Typical. :)

That's happened to me too. Hunting the back of the property and come back to the camper where someone is sitting there telling me there were about 20 birds within 15 ft. of the big white camper with dust bowls left as proof. Makes no sense at all. But there ya go.

happened to me and my father-in-law. we parked the truck in a field and set up just inside the woodline. after fly-down we can hear this bird gobbling behind us - i turn around to look and sure enuff, he's 30 yards from the truck. struttin, gobblin, generally actin a fool - i'd say it happens more than folks like to admit!:D

Two years ago I was hunting these two gobblers that keep roosting in the same area several days in a row. Long story short, they both ended up strutting completely around my truck (20 feet or less) for about an hour and also up and down the blacktop road my truck was parked on. I was in the edge of the woods below them and the only shot I had would have ended in me shooting my truck. They gobbled, double gobbled and triple gobbled then I spoked them trying to crawl back to the truck, lol! Ughhh!
