We scouted the week before youth season...we saw 100-150 turkeys in this field and we even video taped the whole bunch. I think we counted 12 strutters in the bunch. We hunted youth weekend and my son killed a nice tom opening morning. We hunted on Sunday morning in the fog and we heard a ton of gobbling on the roost and a couple after flydown and all was still after that. I've called our friend and he says he hasn't seen hardly anything since last Sunday. They just vanished....on the one property another guy heard gobbling everywhere and there wasn't a bird taken on this property that would have spooked them into hiding. My question is where did they all get to??? Does anybody have any theory's on how that many turkeys can stay hidden?? Where my son and I hunted was alot of open fields surrounded by rivers and woods. Do they stay more to the woods during this "phase"? I know we saw alot of breeding and fighting in those 2 weekends so I know they're getting after it. I'm just suprised the turkeys aren't as visible like they were 1-2 weeks ago...
