anybody else hear this? his name is koby (all of roger's kids first names begin with the letter k :) ) and i think he's a 3rd baseman.
being a reds fan and knowing that clemens HASN'T made up his mind about whether or not he will play this year got me to thinking.... maybe the reds should offer him abunch of $$ and tell him 'look, we just want u to show up every 5-6 days or so - for all we care u can LIVE in lexington so u can watch your son play'. hey, a reds fan can hope can't he??!!

There was some early speculation a month or so ago that the Rocket might actually come play with the Legends for a month or so. Wouldn't that be a blast, to watch Clemens on the mound right here in Kentucky.

I heard that a while back. I think some reporter in Lexington had a crazy dream and decided to write a story on it..
There was a video about 2 months ago of Roger pitching to his son at spring training and his son went yard on the first picth.:D Roger threw a high and tight fastball the next pitch and everyone started laughing.
On a related note, one of my favorite pitchers (Dwight Gooden) got nabbed for doing some blow again and will be doing some county time.

after hearing this art, it doesn't really seem that far-fetched to me. it may only be for a game - so roger and his boy can play on the same team. remember, the astros ARE the legends farm team, y wouldn't they throw roger a bone and let him play with his kid a time or 2 before he retires - i mean we ARE talking about 'ROCKET ROGER' clemens here.
having said that, i STILL want him to play for the reds ;)

Being a long time Mets fan I don't feel sorry for the guy because he was given every chance to stay clean. Unbelieveable waste of talent IMO. And Clemmons has too much pride to pitch on a minor league team IMO. He will be in Houston when it is all said and done. If they have a chance to go to the Playoffs.

i'm not saying they're gonna demote him and send him to minors!! u really think he would let PRIDE interfere with a chance to play with his son?!
on a separate note, i grew up in lynchburg VA where the mets' triple a franchise is (USED to be anyway, not sure if they are still there). i got to see darryl strawberry AND doc gooden play on that team. straw was just NASTY at that age, so was doc, but he had as much control as nuke laloosh!

I played on their minor league field in kingsport tn. 100 years ago it seems during the regionals in college. Doc didn't have to have control he had that nasty hammer that dropped off the table. Being a little wild helps them power pitchers out could you imagine standing in on him throwing mid to upper 90's and that curve ball starting out at your head:eek:
I don't think Clemens will ever come here to watch his son play, let alone play here. It would be nice, but don't hold your breath. Tickets would be $200 each if he did.
Gooden, Stawberry and the Mets were my team as a kid! I can't tell you how many times I went to see the Reds play the Mets. I think baseball was more enjoyable for me when I was playing. I don't follow it much anymore since I stopped playing. I played baseball with Austin Kearns in HS but he turned out to be a little bit better than I was I guess.:D

Art that is what I told my wife last night when Brad Wilkerson was on tv. Honey I played against him. Her response I guess he could hit better than you. Me being the smart#$% I am I said no he didn't have a woman to bring him down... :D I played against Kerns but he was only a freshman. The stud on the team that year was Rob Aswald(sp) He was the best player I ever laced them up against he could do anything.
I played against Rob Hauswald for years. He was one of the best I've seen and there were some great players to come out of Lexington in the mid 90's. Andy Green was another one. I didn't think he was all that great, but I guess MLB did.:D
Rob was nearly killed in an ATV accident and hasn't been right since.. It was a tough break.
Kearns actually played with me at Dunbar for a year or 2. He was on the JV team as an 8th grader there. He went to Lafayette (where Rob) played because Dunbar was coached by a retard at the time who played guys with ass kissing parents as opposed to the talented kids. Kearns was a short fat kid, but he grew into a man very early just as the great ones always do. He was actually a pitcher in HS and had a 94 MPH fastball.

Didn't Rob go to Mississsippi State. I head he got into an atv accident but I didn't see anything else about it. I saw Kearns pitch when he was a freshman in the lafayette classic. At the time he could throw hard but didn't have anything else to go with it. He always played right field against us but they had some what of a stud in center Rod Smith I believe was his name. I always loved going up there and playing Lafayette,BS, Henry Clay, Boyd County, Somerset, and one more team but I can't ever remember who it was.
Yep, he went to Miss St. I didn't really follow what he did there though. I walked away from everthing baseball when I was 18 and didn't care too much about what most of those guys did after that.

I played against John Pelfphrey in High school, his basketball career ended a little better than mine to:D

I work for the Lexington Legends right now as a side job, have for 3 years. I'll be in and out of the clubhouse from time to time, tonight is opening night. I'll keep everyone posted as to whether or not I see the Rocket around. I have watched his son take BP. Don't worry. He won't be in Lexington long. My guess is he's called up before the second homestand.

I guess it depends on how long his son is around. I suspect he will show up at some point. My guess is that the rocket is a little too busy right now to go to too many games. Unless he's on the mound it don't much matter if he comes to a game or not IMO.

Kearns beaned me twice in one game my senior year. Talk about Nuke Laloosh. He took a no hitter into the sixth inning against us and we were up 5-1. Don't know if he was always like that, but he was wild as a buck that day. My sophomore year we played Lafayette at Montgomery County HS. Hauswald tripled off the top of the wall in the first inning. He hit a grand slam and a solo homer in his next two at bats. We were down a run in the last inning and he came in and struck out the side on 9 pitches. Needless to say he left quite an impression on us. Funny thing is, I played at Boyd County and either Hauswalds mom or dad is a doctor in Ashland. I sure wish he would have lived with whichever parent was here in Ashland.
