I was in the Daniel Boone Natl today and saw a male turkey just off the small roadway and over near the bottom of a bank and he was by hisself. Is it usual for a turkey to be alone or was there probably other turkeys near by that I just failed to see.

We worked a lone gobbler on the youth hunt. It was the most stubborn bird I have ever called to. He was roosted all by himself and flew down about 115 yards from us and there was not another bird in sight.

Just about all the toms we saw were with hens this past weekend other than the 5 that came into us wanting to fight our decoy. We saw breeding on both days and we saw fighting on both days too. I think if the weather stays fit for the next 9 days the hens will be laying pretty good.:) It might be slow for the 1st couple of hours (if that) for breeding but I think there will be some lonely toms come mid morning....
