I've been busted by deer enough times during spring turkey that I have a policy of running the deer off before I setup to work a bird. Otherwise, never fails, they will wind me & snort like mad for the next 30 min. Turkeys may have small brains but they seem to know what that means!

Maybe that's why it's hard to predict what they're gonna do in any given situation- they don't analyze anything, they just react!

PB don't feel bad I'd be pretty happy with one out of ten[:p]

KY, I think you hit the nail on the head, they just react. I think turkeys aren't that smart, their just so darn dumb, you can't predict how the heck they are going to act to anything. The one time you think you have them figured out, they go and do something contary. That's why I love hunting them.

Yea seems to happend a lot. My best hunt this year was 2 deer walked in behind me, got my wind & snorted for 5 min. 4 gobblers were strutting in front of me & paid no attention to em. Deer circled joined up with 6 other deer walked by the gobblers & went on, waited for the deer to get out of the way & it's turkey time.
