Thursday of last week there was a gobbler struttin with 3 hens in a hayfield that had been mowed. I would guess that the one hen that you saw could have lost her clutch.

Watched two hens feed yesterday for awhile, couldn't see any little ones. Last time I saw toms it was a group of four, not strutting just feeding. Bet if they came across a couple of broodless hens they could still get it fired up!

A good friend had a bunch hammering the evening before last as the thunderstorms were rolling in. That was near Henryville. I've heard them in November and December on rare occassions, although that usually occurs when they get surprised or seperated from the flock.

I've heard them gobble hard in October twice, both times when thunderstorms were rolling in.
I kept 2 hammering all day Friday & Saturday for a bunch of kids.
We saw a couple of hens too. Who knows, old Tom may have gotten lucky????[;)][:D]
