I hope to do alot of tent camping this year where I can fish and hunt. Some of the places I know about that is not to expensive is
1. Little Lick
2. Bee Rock.
3. Rockcastle Campground
4. White Oak Boat-In Campground
5. Fishing Creek Recreation Area campgrounds
Can any of you tell me about other places that is good and not to expensive. I am retired and get 1/2 off prices at federal places.

You have dozens of national forest, corp of engineer, and national park service campgrounds in Kentucky. Here is a link to the reserveamerica campground reservation website for federal campgrounds =

Almost all the larger lake/ impoundments in Ky have Corp of Engineer campgrounds,One of my favorite spots is the Buckhorn campground on Buckhorn lakes tailwater ,they stock trout, have good catfish and decent muskie in the tailwater. The lake has excellant muskie, good crappie, catfish, and decent bass.
Plenty of hunting opportunities on Buckhorn WMA also.Mostly just a matter of opinion though, but I prefer the less crowded places.

I'll second the Buckhorn recommendation. It rarely gets crowded. The access roads aren't that great, so I guess that keeps the Buckeyes to a minimum. The campground is always neat and clean and the Middle Fork tailwaters off good fishing around the spillway.

TrustMe,I guess the same fellow and his wife are keeping up the campground,Company out of Lawrenceburg,Ky.They've been there for 3 or 4 years now and do a great job,it's one of the cleanest and less crowded campgrounds in Kentucky.(maybe I should keep my mouth shut though)

Go to LBL, 180,000 acres, tucked between Kentucky and Barkley Lakes.
Tent/primative camping practically anywhere you want. Cheap LBL permit.

Since you know how to get to Little Lick, then you might know where they used to load the barges in the backwoods (Old coal tipple) and you can fish right there in the Cumberland River, it's a good place to catch panfish and bass, there's another place in the backwoods where there is a waterfall, and a good place to camp right beside the creek, but there is no way that I could give you directions, I just usually drive to it and not second guess my location, but giving directions would be tough for me to do.

Could be because you use roads that haven't been traveled for decades :D. I've seen some good cats caught from the barge place too.

If you plan on following me then you better have something that goes alot better than a stock Jeep  ,
this place is right beside a main road but can't be seen from the road,
it's on a horse trail and very well hidden and ticks galore, more than you care to eat in one day :D !
