Heard 2 different gobblers last Thurs. One was within 40 yards. Never did see him though. Aah, just like turkey season.

Same here, I can sit on my porch around 5-6 and hit the call one time and hear a gobble. I even saw one struting with one hen about a week ago.

My guess is that the flooding rains of early May have given way to a high tide of renewed courtship. Worried about yet another bout of below normal temps and some precip. Bad combo! As i type this, cool air is flowing thru the window feeling more like early April instead of June 1st.

I was fishing in Floyds Fork this evening and I had one gobble right behind me on the side of the ridge around 7:30pm. It sounded no more than 50 yards away, maybe closer with all the leaves on the trees. I may have to look into re-visiting that spot this fall.

Memorial Day weekend I was on top of the house cleaning the gutters and I heard one gobble about three times. About an hour later I spotted two gobblers in the field behind my house. Then about 45 minutes after that a hen walked between where I had seen the two birds and my house. This weekend I saw the same birds in the field with three hens and a jake, The dominate bird was strutting behind the hens and the other gobbler was behind him looking out. It was just like in hunting season. All I can say is that there is going to be two nice three year old birds and a two year old around where I hunt next season. I believe my tags will fit nicely on any two of the three. Hurry up April 15, 2004![:)][:D][8D]

Multi I think you are right. Saw some more strutters earlier today & had a few hens with them. Don't know about the rest of the state, but we've had nothing but cool & wet up here, way below normal temps. Near record lows several nights in the week or so. And I'm getting real sick of mowing wet grass[:(]

Been known to keep on mowing during a downpour[:p] Once I start, not much short of a funnel cloud will stop me from finishing!
